Links From Different Domain: Same IP

Suppose you have two sites with two different domains.



You own both of the sites, but they are in a different niche.


Does Google recognize and devalue links from different domains if they are on the same server/IP address?

    No it will not affect your SEO but Google prefers dedicated server/IP so that your sites will more secure and safe.

      What do you mean "dedicated server" IP? As in one domain per IP?

      That's not what I am asking, though.


      For instance, I have one VPS (142.384.32.whatever) with 10 sites on it.


      If I put links on from site1.com pointing to site2.com, with both of them being on that same VPS, is Google going be say "wait a minute, I think these guys are in cahoots since the the IP for these domains is the same."

        It depends on how you link them. At which tier level? Be smart, know how Google works, be careful how you link them and use these two sites well to get juice from the link..

    I would still say go for it no matter what, it's just not worth the total difference for that case. It doesn't really matter that much like people used to do with that. But be wary not to make all such links from the same IP address and that's really it.

    This is a terrible idea honestly and very risky. You're probably not going to see any issues at all doing it 2-3 times, but you're basically sending signals to Google that your server hosts a PBN with footprints.

    I'm not saying that's what you're doing, but it's smoking gun evidence that you control the links and are pointing them for SEO gain.

    Both of you are wrong. This is not a big deal. Companies do it all the time.

    It's not a link scheme. It's also not a PBN.

    It's just sites owned by one entity linking to one another. As long as the links are for good reason, it's totally fine.

    Now if the sites are setup in a way to try to hide that they are owned by the same entity, that would be different. The OP did not indicate that they were doing that though.

    The server can recognize it and serve the individual substance. In our reality we have extremely restricted IPV4 addresses however more sites. A web facilitating organization typically serves more than several sites from a similar server (same IP). You can have the same number of locales as you need from one Server (one IP).And it will not affect your SEO.

    If you have high quality content on those sites, provide great user experience to your audience, and take care not to violate any of Google's webmaster guidelines, there is no problem with having multiple sites on a single IP( we can also call it as a shared hosting) and it won'r affect your SEO. Make sure not to create a network of sites that looks like it is designed only to link to each other, your sites don't have a thin content, or no doorway pages since Google are strict on their webmaster policies. In short, Google care about content of your websites and not IP addresses. I hope your IP address is not not known as a spammer.

    I would use a different IP address for the second website. I don't know the reasons but I had better ranking when I switched IP addresses.
