Duplicate content on the same page...

Hi,

Do you know of any tools to check if a page contains duplicate content on the page itself?

I have duplicated sections of my site. They're only visible for mobile users, but in the source code I guess spiders can still see them.

The page is a salesletter so there's still about 60-70% unique content on it. But I still worry...

    Not sure what exactly you are asking. It sounds like you are saying that there is a possibility that you are repeating the same things over and over on the same page.

    If not that, I'm not sure what you are asking.

      Yes, that's what I'm asking.

      For example 2 headlines are exactly the same but one will only show to desktop users. The other has different margins, etc., shows to mobile users only.

      I have whole paragraphs "cloned" this way not just headlines.

        I have no idea why you would do that. Either create a separate mobile version of your site or build your site on a responsive template (Google recommends using a responsive design, incidentally).

        You need CSS for the desired result. It allows you to create different design based on the screen size, etc. No need to duplicate the content.

    Go to your dashboard and work from the back. Change from visual to HTML and find out if there is some writing that is double. I hope this helps. I would also check if there is redundancy like a split page. Click to delete the split.

    The site is designed with Elementor, it's responsive. But fyi in the html code everything is visible when you access site in desktop. The mobile stuff is only hidden but it's still in the html code. That's the way responsive works.

    So since spiders can see the html code, I'm wondering if this can cause dupe content

      It will show up as duplicate. You can confirm it in the text-only version in the Google cache.

      That's not how responsive designs work.

      In Elementor, you don't want to hide sections on desktop and then duplicate and redesign them for mobile. Instead, when you are styling sections you hit the mobile icon and change the settings for mobile.

      Also in Elementor I would recommend using some kind of menu plugin and not use the Elementor menu. It duplicates the menu for mobile devices so you have a bunch of wasted links on every page. Even worse for sites with big menus.

      Well that is just stupid. Duplicate content is not always bad. Google does not care about duplicate content anywhere near as much as people claim they do.

        Kyle Roof recently did a controlled test and they found that only 1 out of every 13th words being unique was more than enough to avoid a duplicate content penalty, so there you go!

        There's so many cases of legit pages having duplicate content, and Google knows that. One example that comes to mind is client testimonial copy on multiple pages for a local business. Those pages still get treated as unique for all of our sites that have the same review slider on several pages.

    It is not understandable why you need two different pages when you have created a responsive website with the help of the Elementor tool. It automatically sets the content part so there is no need to hide anything. Also, why you need to write it twice as you can give a specific format for mobile and desktop via HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

      Why would he check with Copyscape? It is his site, he knows there's duplicate content (same content on several of his pages).
