Let's Do An Experiment

(Sorry for the long first post)

I have a domain that is almost 5 months old, and the other week I added a wordpress blog to it. After downloading a new wordpress update last week, the settings were changed to make my blog private. So Google deindexed my blog. Google is finally starting re-index my site again.

So what's the experiment? Well this is sort of like one of those "I'm broke and don't have a job and only have enough cash flow to last me until after the holidays so let's get to work" type thread. If you hate them then I'm sorry... but there's something in it for you at the end. Also, it's not like I need to go out and get a job because I have a family to support or anything like that. I'm only 19 and still living at home until August next year, so I just need enough money right now to pay the car payment and insurance and such.

The experiment is to see how much search engine traffic I can drive to this blog by January 1. Since I have full time to devote to this, I will be working soley on this blog day after day. I will be adding posts based on keywords on a daily basis, and using Unique Article Wizard and Free Traffic System to give many backlinks to each individual post.

Don't worry, I won't burn out from only working on this one blog. I've been into IM for quite a while so I know the type of work it involves. I actually believe I would be making some decent money right now if the last product I promoted didn't start getting so many refunds. So with this blog, some days I'm going to add 10 or so posts all focused on keywords getting 50-300 "exact" searches per month, while other days I will focus on adding 2 or so posts for keywords getting 1,000+ "exact" searches per month. The difference is I will spend more time during the day getting backlinks for the days I only do a few posts for more competitive keywords.

As you can see at the link below. I've only gotten one visitor from the search engines in the past entire month, and that 1 visitor was me.

Note: buildbigmusclesnow is not the site, just where I put the image.

So what's in it for you guys? Well, you have until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time of November 30 to give me a guess for how much you think my highest traffic day will be up to by December 31 at 11:59 p.m. I will be going off of search engine traffic only! So even though I may have a 20 unique visitor day, but only 15 from the search engines, then this counts as a 15 unique visitors day. Also I will only be going by unique visitors, not page views.

This will be like a "The Price Is Right" style thing. Whoever gets the closest number without going over wins. So if you guess 100 and I get 99, then sorry but you don't win.

What do you win? Whoever comes closest without going over is going to be getting $2 for every 10 unique visitors. So if I end out December with my highest being 300 unique visitors then i will paypal the winner $60.

I'm doing this for a few reasons. The one reason is because it will show people how quickly you can actually build up the traffic to a blog on your own domain with the right amount of "smart" work involved. If the blog starts to get a really good amount of traffic by the end of the December (which I really plan on happening), then this will be layout for exactly how that happened for other people to follow. I'm also doing it because it will be a huge motivation to me to track my progress. I want to be able to give someone a decent amount of money at the end of this, because that means that I will be doing very well.

Well that's it. The experiment starts.... NOW!

-Scott

Edit: The blog is based on the make money online niche with a niche specific domain name to go with it. It's general in that I will be writing about anything that has to do with how to make money online, not just particular things.

Cool of you to offer the contest...

Estimating your traffic without having a clue what keywords you are targeting and how popular those keywords are is like throwing darts blindfolded.

So, here goes... *puts on blindfold*

Free Traffic System is a website where you submit an article with two links in it for backlinks and then the site will distribute that article to 30 blogs that you select.

Unique Article Wizard costs $67 a month but it allows you to get a lot of low pr article directory backlinks for not a lot of work. You take an article and rewrite it two times, then you take the 3 articles and submit them into the wizard. You also come up with 3 different resource boxes and 3 different titles. The software will then take your 3 different articles and take different parts of each article to make completely new unique articles, and it will then submit these articles to 1000+ low pr article directories at 50 directories per day. So it basically drip feeds low pr backlinks for you.

Lol ok I'll give a hint. My blog is about anything that has to do with making money online. Whether it be blogging, affiliate marketing, PPC, SEO...anything. I know that people say that it's better to focus on sub niches, but this is the way I want to do it.

Most people want to have blogs that give really good information and keeps readers coming back with each new post. I want each post to rank at #1 for a certain keyword, and I want to rank for a lot of 50-300 "exact" searches per month keywords.

This isn't to say that my posts aren't informative and don't answer the readers questions, I'm just focusing a little more on quantity and SEO to get unique visitors to my site. Then I want to catch there attention with my amazing opt-in that they can't refuse.

At least that's the plan for now.

Thanks for the tip, I will be sure to look into Google trends.

Its a tough niche but if you get a few golden nuggets, its a niche that pays quite well. Heres a tip, you might want to write a few articles on hosting ;-), now go and find those nuggets...lol

Are you using any keyword research tools??
I'll be sure to add hosting to my list of broad keyword ideas.

I have micro niche finder but I doubt I'll be using it much, if at all. I'm most likely going to just be using Googles external keyword tool.

It's based around the make money online niche, with that niche specific name. But it's general in that I will be writing on anything that has to do with how to make money online.

    Hey Scott,

Good luck with this experiment! Everyone says the MMO niche is a tough one, but I'm sure you can still get a lot out of it.

Random guess for the contest: 171

    Cheers,
    Shane

I'll be finishing out today with a total of 20 posts on the blog. 18 of which are already set up to be drip fed backlinks over the next 3 weeks.

Google is starting to index some of my posts, but it seems it's doing exactly the same thing it did with my other blog that I only add about one post too per week. After indexing the post Google won't show it for the keyword I'm trying to rank for for a few days, but once it starts showing up it then ranks pretty well.

I'm currently using dragon naturally speaking with a headset so I feel like the potential is there to be putting out more posts per day than I currently am, because I'm currently putting out 6 posts and then spending the time to set up the drip feed backlinking campaigns for each batch of six.

I would like to work my way up to getting 2 batches of six done each day.

So no search engine traffic yet but it's only been 3 days so that's expected, and other than that things are going very smoothly. I won't be doing any work tomorrow since it's Thanksgiving over here in the U.S.
