I'm a newbie in this biz. Just started my first PPC campaign, let's see if I make break even...

Could you experts comments on this: which you prefer better 1. use popular keywords OR 2. use not so popular keywords with less competition.

which convert better for your experience?

Go to Adgooroo's site and download their ebook. There are some interesting statistics in it on just that scenario.

Neither of your options. I'd use the keywords that describe my product.

I was testing this PPC campaign on Weight Loss product with following results:

CTR 0.11% and 374 hits -no sales. Does in this niche in average 374 hits convert some sales? I'm thinking is the product bad or landing page or...where is the problem...

Your CTR is very low...even in competitive markets I get around .60-.80%.

If your CTR is low, then look at your PPC Ads since not many people are clicking on your ads. Are they relevant and dDo they relate to your keywords? You need to have a strong title possibly with the keywords in the title, and a good call to action.

If for example you had a good CTR, but still got no sales, then I'd look at the landing page as that man not be pre-selling the product all that well.

Everything is a continuation.... your keywords ---> Ads ---> Landing page... it all needs to be a relevant continuation.

P.S. - I normally give around 500 clicks to see if the product is worth taking further.

Maybe it's not crap. Maybe the sales page is crap. Have you used the product yourself? Also, how many clicks have you sent to the affiliate? You can't judge it's no good by a handful of clicks, you need dozens, hundreds even.

Over 500 clicks -no sales. The salepage is "used", at least it will need some improvement (too long time the same in market)
