I've noticed that posting sig links in forums that are not relevant to my site still improves in the SERPs. I haven't tried posting the sig links in relevant forums - just wondering if it would help more. Has anyone tested sig links in relevant forums compared to forums that are not relevant?

Shhhhhh. You are killing another myth.
A good backlink is a good backlink is a good backlink.
Now you will get more forum generated traffic from relevant forums.
Actually, that's just a guess, cuz it's logical.

Earlier, Sometimes back (About a year back) that method work a lot to me. I had posted on many irrelevant QUALITY forums and enjoyed improvment in SERP. But nowadays, I tried to apply the same way, but I couldn't not get success with it. It seems google started to ignore those backlinks.... but not sure about it.

That's interesting in what you said TaroA - I use to get a lot more success - but a lot less anymore. Maybe G is ignoring these links...
