Backlinking to a Fwd'ed Domain w/ Aff link?

Hey guys,

Awesome forum. Everyone is so helpful!

Real quick.

I was wondering if it's worthwhile to backlink to a custom domain that's forwarded to an affiliate link.

Does it help your custom domain(with hiden aff link) appear higher on google?

Or does it only make the actual site rank higher with no regard to your custom domain and link?

Example. Let's say you want to buy Angela's link pack and backlink to your domain www,HowToImaginaryBenefit, com that's forwarded to an affiliate link for a clickbank product on whatever the imaginary benefit would be.

Is it even worth the effort/cost?

Or is it a losing proposition?

Thanks in advance. You guys rock.

PS. Sorry about the weird example url I don;t have 15 posts yet

Well, if the fwd'd domain name has no content then it aint worth it.

Perhaps if you framed the other website it might be.

Most people will tell you no, BUT....

I have a different take on this.

I did exactly what your discussing above , mainly as test, I had no fath in it working.

    It did work.

I rank no#2 below the manufacturers listing for a product with my domain name.

It looks ridiculous in the SERPS, it just sits there as a domain, no TITLE, description, nothing but incredibly it ranks.

The only caveat I have it is that I used domain masking in the equation.

I've managed to beat out serious competition, just a domain name , forwarding and masking to somebody elses sales page.

Cool. I think I will try this as a test as well.

Thanks Simon for your explanations. It really enlighten me about the power of backlinking. Off page SEO is much more important than on page SEO

It's something I've thought about before.

You could use a sample html re-direct file and include a title and description in it. I wouldn't go after any competitive keywords with it, but it'd be interesting to see if it works.
