Anyone using 'Google Stop Words' in their domain names?

Hey Warriors
As we all know getting a good domain name with relevant keywords these days is like winning the Lotto. And yes i think keyword rich domain names are still popular with Google.

Which brings me to my question: the theory of adding stop words (words that Google supposedly ignores in search queries) has been around for a while.
Has anybody actually achieved top 3 rankings in Google by adding stop words to their domain name?

Eg: bestmarketingtools.com is not available so you add the, making it
thebestmarketingtools.com

Any Thoughts

google loves domains that are 1, 2 or 3 keywords max...

the longer it gets, the less likely it will get exact match bonus' from google as it looks very spammy, no matter if its com/net/org/us/biz/etc.

keep it nice and simple... go with what works

I have top rankings with domains that have a prefix of "my" and "best" and with the suffix of pro. I probably have several others that rank well with minor additions to the keywords, but I cant think of any right now. Its always best to have an exact match, but these "stop" words as you call them, don't hurt your rankings; unless it gets too long and spammy as mentioned before.

  I have 13 sites with stop words, most are 'the' some are 'buy' and a couple are 'best'. After 6 months of constant building and back linking one is at number 2 in the serps, and making me the most money, but the rest are not really anywhere.
  I have recently built another 11 sites that are exact keyword domains and most are on the front page in just one month with little work. Very frustrating as I keep working away on my older sites trying to get them to the first page as they are all built the same as my best site at number 2.
  I don't really know what to make of it, if I didn't have that money maker at number 2 I would give up on stop words and say they don't work.

  I was leaning towards the idea that exact name keywords are still the best bet, they normally require less work to rank well.

  I have some with a stop word and even a related word, but they have never ranked and I've given up on them for now - will go back to them later. Having said that, if the content is good and enough backlinking is done those sites can rank equally well but it takes a lot longer.

  What about dashes in the domain? I understand stop words reduce the ranking strength, but what about www.key-word.com?

I have tested few stop words based domains, they work as good as any other straight keyword domain. So yes, no problem with that, i believe.

I knew we were going to get a load of different answers with this one. I have a domain, something like: thegardenchair.com, because I couldn't get gardenchair.com, and it is NOWHERE for 'garden chair', like, not even top 100, yet it ranks page one for some other keywords. Now you can't draw conclusions based on one domain, but I know I won't be using stopwords again, or hyphens for that matter (bad experience with those too).

I have domain with stop word "to" as prefix and it can rank high. So I think it is really possible to rank well with stop word in domain.

I don't think you have anything to worry about with stop words. These are words that are ignored... if I can remember the exact definition...

There really should be little or no effect. Backlinks are usually a much larger factor in ranking. You can probably do a test for yourself. Go ahead and search for the exact match domain in SERPs and see how well it ranks. Then check the backlinks of the exact match and the #1 spot. This will give you a good idea of what is more important.

As a rule i'd never have a word at the beginning of my domain name

i.e.
besthaircare.com

I'd always try go for something like

haircaretips.com

I find it better to have the extra word at the end.
