Do you create back links to your articles?

I was just curious if this is a good way to get readers for your articles and how many of you do this.

I do social bookmark my articles and sometimes If the article is relevant I would leave a link in forum posts as well. But it is mostly social bookmarking as it is easy to do and sometimes if the article is very interesting and it gets picked up by social media crowd it can get you lot of traffic.

People create back links to their site in order to enhance their search engine ranking and also by adding a link in your resource box visitors will be more likely to visit your site.

I noticed that people who end up in the most viewed in the last 60 days, by reason of being in that list, get more views every day compared to everyone else.
There is one way I noticed that people get a head start by getting on that list and that is to get their "list of subscribers" to view their articles. Is backlinking a good strategy to get more views?

  Definitely. If the articles have backlinks pointing to them then the backlinks they give to my money sites may have more SEO boost to them
  Use RSS directories. Ezinearticles has RSS feeds for the author

  Defiantly use back links. Most site owners will allow the use of 2 back links per 300 - 500 word article. Always target your keyword, and if you doing multiple articles than change the variation of your keyword in your link.

  I generally get a few backlinks to my E-Zine articles, It doesn't usually take long to get a 1-2 page rank. As long as there good backlinks you'll only need a few!

  I'll submit the same article to other lesser directories and link back to the directories that give me traffic. I'll also link to articles that are giving me clicks from other directories with other articles.
  
  Any directory that gives an author RSS feed, I'll run it through RSSBot real quick since that does give some very basic backlinks.
