Hi Folks,

Dont you think that social bookmarking may be regarded as "duplicate content" since the same content is spread to many social media sites at the same time?

I say this given the background that i manually submitted an article i already have at Squidoo to Hubpages. The article was initially published and almost immediately i got a feedback that the publication would be removed if i do not make modifications to the article since in their words, it is "duplicate content" since it already resides on another webpage.

    It wouldn't be no.

Social bookmarking would only duplicate a very small snippet of the article (title and description).

Where as article marketing is duplicating the whole article. Now, here's the interesting part...

Both articles will still rank within the search engines, but it's the articles that perceived to be most authoritive (backlinks, site it's on etc), that will get the higher ranking.

So, it's only natural that an article site wants that content all to themselves (so they're not competing with other article sites for the ranking).

some artilce directories may not accept duplicate content but thats different from social bookmarking sites. its just a matter of what the rules are for each site you are trying to add content with.
