duplicate content

Hi,

I was in a rush one late night so I copied and pasted some content from another site..

This is the only page that has not been crawled. I was wondering if google has slapped my wrist for that page?

Is this what they do now?

Crawled or indexed? If the page has not been crawled yet then Google does not even know about the content issue. If it has been crawled but not indexed then they may have decided that it is not worth indexing though it may be too early to decide if that is what happened.

If in doubt get some better content and replace what you have now.

  If you are taking content from someone else's site or articles or whatever and putting it on your site because you are too time-stressed to write your own content or hire it written - perhaps the page is being treated exactly as it should be.
  
  There is simply no excuse for just taking what you want online and using it without credit or permission.

  Unless the site explicitly states that their content is not copyrighted then you can safely assume that it is. You're probably not gonna end up in court over it, but if I were you i'd write your own content (google likes this anyway).

Did you copy from another of your sites - or are you saying you copy/pasted content found on a site owned by someone else?

You might want to clarify your question. If you took the text from a site you don't own, googlebots may be the least of your worries.

Ditto to what Kay King said. How would you feel if the content that you worked so hard on wound up on someone else's page?

If you don't have time to put quality stuff on there, your site shouldn't be up yet.

  Get real. Isn;t that exactly what all the autobots do? They grab articles from article directories and Yahoo answers and post it. Seems to be legal and effective.

  Articles aren't duplicate content - google's definition of duplicate content (which used to have a penalty attached because it was so common) - is when you have identical pages on your site.
  
  Used to be a trick used by those building adsense sites - replicate the page again and again with a different page title - in an attempt to make your look more important with more pages.
  
  Others would use identical content and just change the keyword in an article and load all those "changes" up as separate pages - worked for a while till google caught on.
  
  See - that's the problem. "Duplicate" is a word that people use to define something (articles) that it doesn't pertain to when it comes to google.
  
  There may be time when there is a reason to spin articles but if you are just writing your site and a few article directories - it's not necessary.

  There's a legal defense I've read about - SODDIT (some other dude did it) - it's not an excuse I'd want to try if I received a DMCA notice for copyright violation.

  Article directories give permission to reprint the articles, if the resource box is left intact. Do some bots take it and strip the resource box? Yup.
  
  Does that make it legal? Nope.
  
  Just because someone else does it, does not make it right.
  
  Did anyone else hear their mother's voice when reading that? LOL.

NEver copy someone's content because you might be penalized in the ranking. However, i think you can rewrite the same article if you really want it. Check to make sure it passes copyscape.
