As an experiment I created 2 sites that I got ranked on the 1st page on Google, I included 10 - 20 page content, I will not be updating the content, I want the sites to run on autopliot.

The problem is the sites drop from the first page to the second page. What is the best way to keep the site on the 1st Page on Google?

I know there are tools to auto generate content, like rss and articles, is that the best way to go, I prefer to have unique content. I was also thinking of doing more backlinking.

I am planning several web projects and am thinking now on just to create user generated content sites.

you might want to try automated twitter posts with links to your site and relevant keywords/hashtags.

I have a site that displays the recent 5 twitter posts. An average of 5 tweets a day. I make sure the site is cached regularly.

Rankings continue to stay #1 for decent long tail keywords.

Build backlinks to your website and do it continuously. It is not difficult to stay in first page since you already got first page ranking. You only need to maintain it and through backlinks you can do it easily.

Unless you have fresh content the competition will 'displace' you. You need to drip and build backlinks too.

As a matter of interest, how many pages are there when you search for the term you have ranked for ?

Honestly if your core optimization is good then you can use auto generated content or unique i have sites on page one for both. It is also normal to have your site bounce from page one to two when you first get there, it is all about maintainence, think about it, everyday more and more sites are being added to your keyword so it is just natural for your serp to fluctuate. but if you keep backlinking then eventually google will vies you as an authority and it will get easier to keep your site oin page one.

      You don't need new content.

I would just monitor the rankings and whenever I noticed a drop build more links.

Yes you need to get links over time to maintain good ranking.
