    I'd agree that the best structure is /%postname%/ and if you use the right SEO approach and the right theme, you can avoid all forms of duplication plus a site that consists entirely of 2 tiers.

    Slightly off topic, how many signature links are allowed for a non paying warrior? Looking at the post above, it appears someone made it unlimited...just sayin'

      It's not a number of links its a number of lines. I think 4 lines.

      To answer the OP's question, go with %/postname unless you are building a silo structured website and then consider doing category/postname.

      And to improve your internal linking, link posts to other relevant posts using your target anchor text. A good example of internal linking is wikipedia. They link all their articles together with anchor text.

      Well /postname/ is good for small websites, while /category/postname/ is good for large website to get benefit of SILO structure.
