Dofollow comments simply means that the nofollow attribute is not set for comments posted to the blog and will therefore pass "link juice" from URLs in the comment to your blog or site.

no-follow is a html tag, which can be attached to a link, meaning that it will not transfer link power, but only potential traffic..

A do-follow link is a link, where the no-follow tag hasn't been used and therefore it will transfer link power to your web page..

You can download a tool for Firefox, that highlights no-follow links in red.. The plug-in is called "search status"..

We all know that the back-links are very important part to endorse a site or a blog in the organic listings. Regrettably, getting the quality backlinks is not that easy for all webmasters or the bloggers. I guess the press releases are the good source to get a quality back link because a quality release on any relevant matter is pulled out fast by the leading websites. Trading the links is also a fine idea as per my opinion, what do you think??

  If you are using Firefox, you can install a Firefox add-on called NoDoFollow. When activated, it highlights links in blue if it is dofollow and red if it is nofollow. Before posting on a site, you can activate this to see if it is worth posting a backlink.
  
  But nofollow links still works. It always get indexed in other search engines like Yahoo and Altavista and it ultimately affects your Google ranking. So nofollow links do not really go to waste.

I have had some great success with social bookmarking recently. As a social networking blog writer I have found that every time I do a post to send out my information to a content aggregator for additional exposure. This way my blog not only get's listed on google, but also receives additional exposure at other sites that provide quality backlinks. According to Google webmaster I now have 2500 backlinks compared to last month when I had roughly 100. Additionally my Alexa ranking has gone from 2 Million to 830,000 in the matter of 2 months.

Link wheel that you'll optimize and get a page rank!!!..try to create a link wheel and maintain it (like putting unique content & avoid spamming it to do so scheduling the posting is a good ides).-the advantage of this is you are the one managing the site ,the content and no cost at all...but need to exert a lot of effort and should give more time to promote the sites you have.

First off, how do you define a quality backlink?

(1) Includes your anchor text?
(2) Drives traffic?
(3) Dofollow?

Well, you can get all these in the following methods (and without signing up to link communities):
* Article Marketing
* Guest Posting
* Dofollow Forum Posting
* Dofollow Directory Submissions
* Dofollow Commenting - If they allow anchor text without names

Other forms of backlinking can drive traffic but may not be dofollow or may not allow your anchor text:
* Twitter - URL has to be shortened so no anchor text there
* Bookmarking - URL is frequently used so no anchor text and sometimes nofollow
* Press releases - URL is used
* Document Sharing Sites - usually nofollow
* Video Submissions - URL is used

Of course there are others. But then, listing them all here will not really compel you to use all of them. You can only do so much so this rough list will give you an idea.

I highly suggest article marketing. Make quality articles and submit to popular article directories like ezine, goarticles, article dashboard, buzzle, etc. Add a link at the author resource box to your blog. You can also comment in high traffic blogs related to your niche. Join in forums and add your blog's link to your signature.

Want to get backlinks? The best way to do it is through quality content. Google has said it gives preference to backlinks generated through quality content over ones that are traded for or bought. (in fact, buying backlinks can land you in some pretty hot water). Anyone can buy a backlink. Anyone can trade links. If you're getting backlinks because of great content, it's a true measure of your relevance and popularity. Yes, it will take longer, but you'll be better off in the long run.

To search for quality backlinks you won't need those tools. All you have to do is search for relevant pages that have high pr, but don't give too much attention to the pr of the page because as the link goes old it will also have pr. Relevant pages because it can help a lot in improving your rankings and can also drive targeted traffic to your site.

There are quite a bit of sites to get links from.

Actually having no-follow links still are counted by Bing, who now runs Yahoo's search results

Look into Article Marketing. I really only submit to the top few articles directories. Such as ezine articles, go articles, articles base, article dashboard, etc.

Social bookmarking sites - they give you links as well as some traffic

Press Release Marketing is a great way to get A Lot of traffic and backlinks

Forum Marketing - Search this forum for Angela's backlinks

Blog commenting works too

Web 2.0 sites - Squidoo, Hub Pages, Ning, Blogger, Wordpress, etc,etc.

Regarding Article Marketing, although that may provide a backlink to your site, wouldn't that also render your content as no longer unique? Google ranks sites with unique content higher, so by creating duplicate content elsewhere, wouldn't that pose a problem?

You shouldn't copy/paste content from your own website and submit it as an article to an article database.. Write unique content in the article as well..

The bottom line is that the best link you can get is an in context anchor text link inside a relevant article on a relevant High PR page... Only problem is, getting this type of link is pretty much impossible.

Blog commenting in my opinion is more about getting traffic than quality links. But if you can find CommetLUV blogs it could be a great way to build some good links.

Building a network of Web 2.0 properties is also a good way to go. It will take time, but if you do it correctly you will get page rank for your sites (Wordpress, Blogger, Hubpages, Squidoo and others) and every link will be more valuable. These are all high PR domains and if you post good content you can get PR for you own pages on these sites.

Article directories in my opinion are not even worth the time... You should focus only on the top 5 article directories and forget about all the rest... those links are worth nothing.

Profile page links are very powerful. I don't know why but many say this is the case and I can only agree after checking and testing this out myself. Getting profile links from high PR domains works great.
