How to set up navigation for +100 pages X-Factor Adsense sites

Hello ! ;-)

I want to know how to set up navigation for simple sites, such as "X-Factor Adsense sites », but with a lot of pages (+ 100 and more).

How to not have all too many clickable links up high on the page with usable navigation for the visitor?

This question has already been asked to John (X-Factor) by Evita, a few weeks ago. Alas, John’s answer was incomprehensible to many readers of the forum, including me ... unfortunately.

Can anyone put me on the way?

In advance, thank you.
Regards
Patrick

The simplest way is to go through your pages/keywords and sort them into relevant categories.

Ideally these category pages will be keywords that you can target for direct traffic

Your sitewide navigation should link to these category pages.

Each category page links out to the articles within.

Interlink articles inside a category where applicable using inline links with relevant anchor text.

This keeps your on-page links to a minimum and also keeps relevant articles close together.

Are you telling me that you have over 550 links in the footer of each page?

Guys, he's talking about the green xfactor theme such as 4slicetoaster.org

My answer is, you don't build 100 pages of xfactor sites.

And yet xfactor himself is, as shown here:

        Hello world!

Thank you to everyone who responded to my question. I took the opportunity to subscribe to Troy's newsletter (excellent articles, Troy )

@ Terryrayburn. Thank you, it's nice.
The answer given by John xfactor to Evita's question is at the bottom of page 2 in the article that you cite (06-01-2010, 11:19 AM). It's because I didn't understand the response from John that I repost the Evita's question here. Lol.

PS) Could someone tell me where is the button "thanks" here
        Best regards
        Patrick

My answer is YES you do build hundreds of pages! Google has got smart and the Mayday/Caffeine updates proved that they are figuring this whole 5 page long-tail method out. The best thing to do is to build you site into an authority, John said this himself!

I don't see why you can't have a nav that shows categories only at first, but then expands to show subpages once a category is clicked on. Just Google 'accordian nav' and you'll get some ideas. This is what I will be doing as I build out my micro niche sites.

Is this for a WordPress site or is it for a static site?

There are WordPress plugins you can use to add site navigation pages, primarily for SEO purposes but which also are there to help users.

You can also use tags and categories to create navigation paths. I use Platinum SEO to set the canonical tag for these.

Lastly, you can use a related post plugin to create additional strong internal link patterns.

You can emulate these on a static site but it is a bit more work.

Silo navigation refers to a specific method of aligning your pages to form categorical groupings that benefit the sub pages.

Fraggler gave a pretty succint description of it.
