A link wheel is the process of creating 12 or so (or sometimes up to 116) new blogs/microsites on a particular topic. On each of those sites, you write 200 words of unique content, and include 1 link to your targeted site, and 1 link to one of your other blogs/microsites.

Link Wheel is a white hat SEO technique to gain immense linkbacks to a property you are trying to promote online.
To promote link wheel we have to :
Create Social Bookmarking backlinks for each spoke and your hub page,On each of the web 2.0 sites, capture the RSS feed,Then submit the feed to multiple RSS directories.Ping the RSS feeds and If you are given a sub domain on the web 2.0 properties, submit it to a number of directories

Have to say though that there are those who say do not close out the link wheel. By linking the last site to the first.

      "Quality" backlinks? Really?

I'd say 99% of link wheels are the exact opposite... They are made up of VERY low quality back links. Throwing up a WordPress.com, Blogger, Squidoo, etc. type site and interlinking them does NOT constitute building "quality" backlins to your main site. If those WP.com, blogger, Squidoo, etc. type sites do not have a ton of back links themselves then these are not "quality" links in most cases.

And for the record, Google is pretty good at recognizing these types of linking schemes. They just got a patent approved in August that was submitted in 2004 to allow them to detect "affiliated links" across sites... that has likely been used for years to detect site-wide footer links, blogroll links, link wheels, link farms and other linking schemes.

If you build sites to generate links to your main site, you then have to build links to the satellite sites for them to be useful to your main site. This multiplies your content generation and link building efforts.

In most cases you are better off just focusing on building links to and content for your main site.

Good discussion. I would also think multi-tier link pyramids (starting from 2 tier structures) would be valuable.

Also, creating link juice to the tier 1 and tier 2 properties adds further to the value - does need some horsepower for sure!

          Newbie Question:

Should I acquire a new username/email address for each web 2.0 property in order to minimize footprint?

And, following on from that, if I proceed to promote my money-site-#2,

am I better to select a different set of web 2.0 properties (or at least randomize the selection as opposed to just selecting the same as for site-#1)

and, do I require a new set of web 2.0 accounts (usernames/emails) for each niche?

Lastly, is it possible to open multiple account on all the top web 2.0 sites,
and whilst the above may lessen my footprint, will the one IP address give the game away?

But this thread is about link wheels. You'll need
to use 3rd party resources, and therefore you
have to live with their way of doing things.

I have been link building for about 5 years and have helped several websites become an authority ranked site on all major search engines. Just reply back to this posting and I will give you a free quote and show you how I can help take your website to the next limit. Link building put in simple turns is linking your website with high authority websites that the search engines recognize as authority/high profile sites. When these sites link back to you it makes your website appear to be a high profile website in return. Do you see the importance now? I hope you will give me the chance of helping you take your website to the next limit.

              Thanks

I hear some have good luck with them. It does seem like a lot of time and work just for a simple backlink. Unless the backlink or wheel is of decent pr and quality I wonder how effective it might be. If the pr of each are built up then yeah maybe, but just to build a wheel with pr0 to get a backlink I don't see the point. If you have the time to invest in it then maybe. Otherwise simple forum commenting, blog commenting, or anything else at decent sites seems just as effective. And they don't take nearly as long as a link wheel.

Well I heard a lot about linkwheels and I wanted to start one for my new website that will be online in a few days. But I am not sure if it is really effective because I point some of my backlinks to a hub for example instead of my own page. But the hub itself has other links than only the one to my site. So don't I lose a huge amount of linkjuice?

Yes, they work. And as long as each of those pieces of content work as persuasive selling content also, then you can make even more money for that topic.

Waste of time? If you prove that you can make money with your website, then why wouldn't you take advantage of free web 2.0 sites and make more content like the content that sells on your site?
...so now you are making money on multiple sites, AND you have backlinks to your 1st website.

Well I am about to push my latest website. After it got indexed after 1hour I want to try something like a linkwheel. I wrote 5 articles so far related to my niche. Now I have a few options and I actually think about four of them.
    1. I post each 5 articles to let's say 5 web 2.0 and point them all back to my website (total 25 backlinks)
    2. I post only one article per web 2.0 (total 5 backlinks)
    3. I post each article to 5 web 2.0, interlink them and point to my website only once per web 2.0 (total 5 backlinks)
    4. same as the 3. but I link back to my website from every article (total 20 low backlinks+5 backlinks with backlinks)
Here is an example for the 3. option:

Of course I think of crosslinking to let it look natural and I know that the linkwheel shouldn't be closed so it won't be exactly as in the image above.

    Looking forward to your thoughts.

Link wheel work well if done correctly there are many different linking structures that can be used and payed with. But several things are important.
      1. Good content the contributes to the use experience.
      2. SB the hubs of the wheel (it can insulate your money site from spammy practices).
      3. The key word research is very important to provide maximum profitability.

All of these wheels can be effective but be careful in how you interllink them.

If you close the wheel or make it all too basic you will just not get the results you need.

I also think that link wheels are a great as part of a bigger startegy but alone they dont hold that much SEO value.

    Well,
A link on tires is an interconnected network of content pages created on the popular Web 2.0 sites like Squidoo, Hub Pages, Blogger (Blogspot), Wordpress and so on. Each of these content pages will have a link to your website and a link to another page in the Web 2.0 network, creating a wheel like structure. Linkwheels have become very popular in recent months because of their ability to generate instant rankings for your website.Listen

In link wheel you can add do one thing to get instant result. Try to add one high pr site. no matter from where the link comes. you can see the web.2.0 properties are not get index instantly and they all start from 0 page rank. so if you add one high pr site who giving link to you website or link wheel then it generate higher return to your targeted keyword. try this we already trying this and having great top ten position.

Creating Link wheels is a powerful link building method, It does work. It works for me. But only link wheels won't do anything after a certain point and too many link wheels can get your site sandboxed. Build links with a strategy of diversification. Use as many as link building methods there are. There is no one perfect solution, there won't be one.

Linkwheel is total piece of s***. I've created one of about ~11 instances, with relative content, guess what was an effect? You guessed it - none. I mean, when you think about it logically, you have to build like 100 links to get decent ranking on decent keyword, and this structure, what it does? It strenghtens your properties BY ONE F****** LINK!!! OH GEEZ - ONE LINK! This is stupid, how I didn't thought of this earlier before I tried to build my linkwheel?.. I'm pretty sure even if you build linkwheel of 100 links it will be just as useless and you would get same effect just by building 100 normal links.

Anyway, the real way to get juice (at least my preferred way) is to build some High PR links, and then build lots of links to these links. Not in manual way of course - I use backlink energizer (google it up).
