Posting Amazon Links on Site and Buying them Yourself?

It is against amazon tos. They will probably find you out and take the
cash back. No big deal. Happens to me a lot. They never log me out
for some dang reason, or leave some cookie, or whatever. I always get
a simple note that says something like, "You may have inadvertently
ordered, or by accident, etc...etc...etc...and so we are subtracting money."

I don't think they "mind" you ordering, but they would like the fees back.

I'd tell you how to get family and friends to do certain things, but best
just to STFU. But sending family and friends to your ads is perfectly legit, so....

Obviously if they think you are doing it constantly, you may get banned. Just the
same as google and people clicking their own ads. It happens. Don't make a habit
of it.

I have always looked at the amazon thing like this. I shop a lot at walmart and
target. Should I buy the CD there? Or give amazon business? I think, for the
most part, amazon does not make a federal case out of it. But I am in no way,
shape, or form, telling you to order from your links and not be honest. I've
always been honest. But, if they ever let one slip, I won't be bothered. I buy
mostly music and movies online.

I would imagine a lot of people do it. But it does give you an unfair discount.
If you purchased 1,000 copies of something, that would tip them off.

Great replies guys - thanks for the info. I pretty much knew it was against Amazon TOS - though, I've never seen it there - but seemed like common sense to me.

Its fine. They know it happens. The items show up in your products sold list however when you check to see commissions they aren't on that list. The system just deletes them out. I wouldnt make a habit of it but Amazon knows that it is going to happen. Even their ****ty ass 24hr cookie is going to get used unintentionally.

If you are opening an affilaite account just to try to get a 4% comission on your own purchase then forget it. If you are already an amazon affiliate making a few referrals then you can get 4% on a few purchases if your careful and possibly use a different name (like wife).

It wouldn't be worth it unless that 4% is going to save you $75 or more. Even then use on occasion.

I'd think amazon would notice if your referring the same person over and over again.

I understand both sides. I will buy where I can get the most for my money.
Amazon's no sales tax and free shipping on many things makes it hard to beat. Plus it's time saving to buy online.
