Wordpress or xsitepro for my next site?

I am planning to create a relatively large site. It will eventually have about 500+ pages (conservative figure, most likely a lot more) but I am wondering if xsitepro or wordpress is better to create this? I used xsite previously but am wondering which would give me the most benefit overall? I will have about 10-15 categories with about 20-50 posts each. This may end up being a personal preference type of thing but perhaps there is benefit to creating my intended site with one rather than the other.

XSP gets REALLY SLOW if you make a site a bit bigger. I have a 100 page site with XSP and it loads SLOW AS HELL!

But XSP is great for newbies who are just starting off.

I used XSP for nearly my entire IM career and did well just using the sites. I only moved to WP because I want to outsource the content creation for others to build my sites and WP was easier to manage the outsourcing.

I have used both. I think wp would definitely be the better choice for a larger site. It will give you a lot more options but take longer to learn.

Wordpress is the best option for both whitehat and BlueFart websites in my opinion. Choose it as its supporting very well.

+1 for Wordpress. If you can get yourself stuck in to the css and php then it gets bonus points too.

Thinking of using wordpress? Search google for 'wp v static html warrior', read the thread and think again!

I have 26 sites. 16 wordpress and 10 static html. For every £1 my wp sites make, my static sites make £5.

Worpdress is unsurpassed as a blogging platform. And, yes, the support is great. As a cms, however, it is not good. It is, quite simply, a myth that google loves wordpress.

I am just about to invest in xsitepro and re-build all my wp sites as static.

        That's my 2p!

        Regards to all,

        Peter

Unless you seriously misconfigured Wordpress, I can't
see a reason why Wordpress would be responsible for
          this.

It's about stability in the serps, Tyrus. Wordpress sites leap about all over the place!

No misconfiguration I can assure you. Straightforward Thesis 1.8 installs with A+ on page seo!

I've used wordpress alot. I have about 30 sites in various stages of development. If you have multiple sites site up the multisite feature and keep the thing updated it seems vulnerable to hacks.

Check the alternatives....like static content generators....I use webgen (google it). Once you learn how to use it you will be building web sites in minutes.

Static all the way. WP is way overrated imho...fwiw...

I only brought up this post because I have my own review site with xsitepro2 which is basically a money site. Just yesterday I setup my girlfriend with a blog and was sort of reminded how easy it is to set up. This made me think about my own site I have in planning, the larger site, and so i wasnt sure which would be better for me to use. Just for the ease of use I think I will use wp.

Any other thoughts on static sites versus wordpress? The intent of this site is purely for seo purposes. Does this change opinions for any warriors?

I've built sites with almost every CMS and I keep going back to Wordpress. It's simplicity, speed and massive community is unmatched.

The only other CMS I use these days is Drupal but only when building massive sites with member logins, community boards and so on but getting a site going is a slow and complicated process.

I am a wordpress fan as well, but here is something to think about- easy of putting information up, I can post really fast without logging into worpress using a tool like w.bloggar

I can write small post online, and post in a few seconds, whithout going to login etc....

    Something to think about.....

Does XSP run on IIS only? I looked through some of their features but couldn't really find out for sure. The screenshot reminded me of dumbed down version of dotnetnuke. For $175 you could get WP and throw on Thesis or hire someone to make you a good affiliate site.
