Hi
I am new to this forum but can I just say that the information what's on here looks amazing and so inspirational.

I am a (new) sports trader and started my own blog a few months ago, to begin with I did it to aid my discipline on sports trading, after a month I decided I was going to monetize it and I have have added various ads from affiliates and google adsense,

This is what my questions are-

Which ads work best text or images or both together?
Have I got the placement right for adsense?

The reason I ask these questions is that even though I am making go progress in terms of getting traffic, the adsense revenue seems to be a bit slow.

Please take a look, if you have a minute and tell me what you think, the link is in my signature

    Hi there

The one thing i would suggest is getting rid of the border around the adsense ads, this will allow it to flow with your text better and for the average viewer wont even look like an ad.

Cheers I got rid of border and made background the same colour as blog, what about the text or images or both, if you don't mind, also should I make the text the same colour as blog text

      Thanks again

It looks a lot better, now when i visit the page it doesn't look like it's covered in adsense ads.

Yes you want the titles of the ads exactly that same colour as the titles on your blog, i think a light grey for the text of the ads might look quick good as it will help them stick out but not like a sore thumb.

I would recommend trying the text ads only for a week and see how this goes, personally i think it would fit in a lot better because your content is text, (i.e in a photo gallery/ high media page pictures usually work best)

So try text ads only for a week and then try the media ads. After the two weeks you will have a rough guide on which types of ads are converting best.

edit- if the grey text doesn't work i would definatley recommend having the text the same colour as the blog.

        Good luck

            Hello,

I think the design of the blog is good but there is a bit too competition for the reader's attention as there are so many ads and banners.

There are three Google ad blocks, all of them larger than than the two bits of text.

In my view you might find that a lot of visitors just click away because of the sheer number of ads and very little to read.

Perhaps you could try leaving out one of the Google ad blocks and putting more useful content for people to read. if they hang around a little bit longer more of them might see an ad that catches their eye and click on it.

            Best of luck with it.

            Cheers, George

            hi, hooksteveway:

at first sight your blog looks great, since the black background is nice for pictures and graphic design, but reading white text on black background is uncomfortable for the eyes.

the adsense code is too cluttered, i would make more blocks separated by other content.

if this is your only "virtual real estate", i would strongly recommend you to get yourself a domain and hosting, since you never know when google decides to shut down your blogger blog. this does not mean that you have to quit this blog: go on with it, but diversify! search for "link wheel" in this forum in order to apply a great technique to get more search engine traffic.

            kind regards,
            tom

    Hi,

You should seriously consider getting your own domain and hosting, building a long term business on the blogger is asking for trouble.

You are at their mercy should they ever pull the plug on you for whatever reasons.

The mans got a good point, definatly don't rely on blogger to keep that up there you should invest in a domain.....i would also say i found adsense pretty much a waste of time, affiliate links are alot more worthwhile, just a though.

Ok I lasted two days on the adsense trial, I can clearly see that a mixture of text and images, work better for me that text alone. But as soon as I make the £60 pay out I will be setting up my own page and hosting my own blog

my suggestion is to look to see if your ads are relevant enough as images

Yeah the image ads display as trading stock ads so thats close enough for me.

        But cheers again
