Importance of NoFollow links?

So I recently read in a SEO guide about how having a % of your backlinks as nofollow makes your link profile look more "natural" to G. The author claimed that he has seen sites get a boost from integrating nofollow links to his BL profile. Just curious if anyone actively builds a % of their backlinks as nofollow. If so, where do you get them? FB/2.0? Also, if you think this is hogwash, please add your input.

I build both do follow & no follow link.

I would post on the popular blog or forum to get real visitor as well as get link vote from them.

I've never been pay attention to what link type, but focus on the quality of the content and the message I want them to know.

^^^^ This ... exactly. Great post.

I stopped looking at which links were do-follow and which no-follow over a year ago: it simply isn't relevant to my business.

This is the exact same way I do it and it works well.

Rather spend your time building links, both do follow and no follow are important

Nofollow links aren't as bad some people may think.

Even Google has some nofollow links. Probably your
top five competitors have some too.

So I can see how one might get a boost in their
    rankings.

This thing is you need to look at as a business point of view and search engine point of view..

Nofollow are good for ranking in search engine but dofollow on very popular blog on the niche you choice than you will get targeted visitor for that popular blog.

I believe nofollow and dofollow is important in both..for example you got nofollow blog on the niche you choice and you will not leave the opportunity to miss not to give a link juice to your page. If you find a dofollow blog and you will see that alexa ranking is very low so you will understand clearly that that blog gets huge amount of visitors depending on the niche you choice.

So I hope you got the point how to use the nofollow and dofollow websites.

    I hope this helps

We know there are dofollow links and nofollow links when we get backlinks for our websites. No matter which is better, both of them are useful.

Having a diversity of links going to your site is a very much more natural thing in the algorithmic eyes of the search engiens.

Do/no follow links are related to the concept of page rank. I turned off my page ranking indicator a long time ago and uninstalled the little widget that tells me what links are do/no follow. And I haven't missed them and have seen no difference in my rankings. No difference other than the normal ups and downs of life in the SERPS.

LOL, I haven't got a page ranking indicator (that I know of) and haven't got quite as far as uninstalling the NoDoFollow toy (that would require technical knowledge I don't possess, I think?) but I don't ever click on it, so I don't see them highlighted anyway!

Its been a while since I uninstalled it, but I am pretty sure it was the google toolbar that that showed the page rank. I am not 100 percen tsure on that.

And I keep reading in various places that PR is going to soon be a non-supported technology. I don't know if that is the case or not, if it is (unless something else changes) that is going to make Do/no follow very irrelevant.

Would I rather have a link from the front page of Digg or SU or NYT, rather than from a hubpage, sure. But I think that probably holds more value for direct traffic than anything else. IMO

I always disliked the little highlighting thing. I don't like blinking stuff or things that show up when I am not expecting them and seeing those colored highlights all over the page really bothered me.

I was wondering how you go about taking a picture of your shoe, if you don't mind me asking.

I have several, but I didn't take them, myself ... my former housemate took it last year. These are actually black shoes. I passed the photo through a filter at one of those upload/download sites where you can change the colours of things, and then reduced it down to 80 x 80 pixels to make it avatar-sized at Resize, Shrink, Sketch, Blur, Grayscale and Crop Images or photos online. I apologise for taking the thread slightly off-topic but am constitutionally unable to decline a discussion about shoes anywhere, with anyone, under any circumstances.

I know this is unrelated (please forgive me, OP, for the interruption to your thread) but you always have the HOTTEST profile pictures.

            Just sayin'.......

One of my sites recently got a boost from some backlinking I did, and a good portion of links I made were indeed from nofollow sites. I would agree that diversity in your links is a big factor for ranking in google, not just from including nofollow sites, but from mixing up your anchor text, and also linking to your inner pages rather than just the homepage.
