Adsense - A Question & Advice Please

Hi All,

Been lurking for a while and appreciate all the great input on this board.

1. First a general adsense question - This may sound basic...

When an ad is clicked, is reasonable to expect the payment for the click to register within an hour or so? Or, can it take longer?

The reason I ask is that I am still pretty new to all this and have some weird trends where one day I will make $10, the next I will make $.05... Is this just the way it is?

2. I need advice on an adsense blog...

I have a psychology related blog that I started about 3 months ago. I am on first page of google for 2 of my key search terms. Granted, my term is very specific and not a super high volume term. I get about 100 unique visitors per day with a bounce rate of 38%.

I have tried so many variations of ad placement and layout, and have verified that my ads are pretty dead-on targeted, yet I get nearly no adsense activity...

Could it be the subject? It is a subject where people aggressively seek more information... Any advice on things for me to try to kick this into gear?

I have decided that I am not going to give up on this adsense stuff - I'm going to get to $100/day... I've been at it about 6 months now and am averaging about $3/day.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to pump up your targeted traffic. I use the same adsense layout
    as:
    school-grants.org

    Clicks are registered within seconds.

Impressions are what lags. It may take a while for
your impressions to catch up to the real total.

That's one reason why sometimes early in the day you can
    have more clicks than impressions.

As far as pumping up targeted traffic, hang out in forums
and other blogs that deal with your niche.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not unusual to do $10 one day
and cents the next, or a ratio factor. That is, you could do
$50 one day, $5 the next. It's caused by fluctuations of traffic
and what ads google decides to serve. These can change in
    24 hours.

Another thing you should consider doing is, add your Adsense account to your Google Analytics account. This will let you track every single Adsense page by both traffic + the dollar amount you make (per page).

You can't do this (per page) in the basic Adsense account.

This will give you an idea of what type of pages are converting for your exact site.

I dont think you have a good niche for adsense. You can pm me your keyword and I will run it through micro niche finder and see if I can come up with better niches for your psychology.

I think are better option would be to create a opt in on your page for a free ebook on some psychology problem that you think your readers might be interested in. Then set up an auto responder and build and promote another ebook that will completely solve their problem. You can charge something like 5.99 or 9.99 something like that. I think you would make more in that type of niche.

But that is just my 2 cents worth
