Who really clicks on AdSense ads?

Interesting... I only know people who avoid ads. Don't know any people who click on them.

My blog has 2000+ visits this month. And not a single click on the ads (if we don't count the ones that I myself clicked to test the banners).
2000 unique visitors didn't give a damn about what Google was selling them.

A very similar thing happened to me.

My dad was having trouble on the family computer setting up a new antivirus program. He was searching for help online and I saw him click on an Adsense ad. I was in shock (even though I didn't say anything).

You have to remember that not everyone who uses a computer or the Internet is Internet savvy.

Yeah, The same thing happened with my brother too.!!

Before 2 days, he was finding the song and he clicked on the download button .. I was laughing on there because he clicked on the ad banner .. !! lol :p

Well, I think my ad placement is OK... a left sidebar and then small ads between blog posts.

Ad relevance... I don't know what this is. :confused:
I think Google chooses the ads for you based on your content?

You have to understand that people surfing the internet are not like
you and me. They are not experts. They don't know much how
to search right or find information. My wife is like that. Just think
of how many people touch a computer for the first time daily.
Your visitors are not going to be computer or internet savvy for
the most part. They don't care or know if they are clicking on an
ad. It looks good.

Reminds of a time about 10 years ago. I was working with a friend
together on my computer. I got up and he spotted a banner ad
that said, "You have messages! Click here." It took whole
lot of explaining to him just what a banner ad was and how there
really were no messages for me. What drove me crazy is that in
the near future, we were doing the same thing, and darn it if he
didn't see that stupid ad again and want to me to click!!!!

Why do you think people fall for those emails from Nigeria? To you
and me it makes no sense. To a vast population of internet users,
it makes sense to get an email saying you are now rich!

I never click on sponsored ads in search results. Well, okay, about
once a year. But the normal search population does not know the
difference between the top, side, or real search results. They
just want something. And if it looks good, they click.

Yes, lot of people click on ads. As one example, my friend was looking for children costumes and there was that adsense ad on one of the websites for the costume he wanted so now whenever he needs a costumes he goes back to that particular website as there was many targeted ads for different costumes so he is using this particular website to find costumes through adsense ads, I am pretty sure he does not even realize that these are ads or somebody is paying for it or somebody is getting paid. He even recommended that website for other people as there was such as good selection of links ( adsense)

I myself also click on ads, if I am looking for something and there is an ad for that I will check it out, I don’t avoid it just because it is ad.

Why do so many people make decent money from Adsense? People click ads, it is just that Webmasters hardly do. New internet users worldwide are getting on the internet each day and they have not begun suffering from Ad blindness like the rest of us.

I've tried blending, and contrast.. can't say I've really noticed it make too much of a difference. I have heard other publishers saying it mattered for them though.

What seems to be the most constant is that my "clear cut" shopping keywords get a higher CTR vs KWs that could be used by some as an informational query.

Also I look at the ads on my site and when a site is showing more relevant ads, the CTR is better. For one of my sites, a few advertisers seem to go in and out of having impressions.. maybe its a budget/seasonal thing? Anyway, the months that they have ads, their titles are almost dead on with my targeted KW and outcome is really noticeable in the CTR.

I completely agree. Most people can't tell the difference because the developers blend it so well.

Damnit, man, 1,500 clicks in one day?!
What is the secret? Were those articles about commercial products that people were looking to buy? Were all the articles posted on the same blog or on several different blogs?
