Need to get serious about traffic - How?

I have 2 main sites that have good content. I am continuing to add to them on a regular basis. Both sites are about 3 years old and have minimal traffic. I understand and do on-site SEO well. Backlinking and other things off-site are all kind of new to me. I understand the importance but there are just so many things out there. Not sure what to go with.
I have a subscription to Build my Rank and have been using it for several weeks. I know I probably should do other things. What would you suggest? I don't have a lot of money to invest but would like to automate somewhat. Which software, backlink packages, etc. would you recommend? Also, I'm not very tech savvy, so would like things that are somewhat easy to do. Thanks.

Video Marketing is pretty good for getting traffic- Make a short video about your site and upload it to TubeMogul.com. This site will syndicate your video to multiple video sharing sites including Youtube and Viddler. If you don't know how to do this, you could pay someone on Fiverr to do it for you for $5.

Social Bookmarking is another great method for building backlinks. Just ad your new blog posts to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, and Mister Wong. There is a free automatic social boomarking tool on imautomator.com that could easily do this for you.

Forum Posting will help you build backlinks as well. Join 5 forums in your niche and post 5 comments on each at least 3 times per week.

Write a press release about your site and distribute it to PRlog.com. You can pay someone on Fiverr to do that for you as well.

Just to add to the conversation, have you tried guest posting? Try making friends with fellow bloggers in your niche and see if you can guest blog. I've had excellent results with this method and it has significantly boosted list subscribers.

Fellow bloggers are always looking for free high quality content in exchange for your link when it comes to finding content for their site. Just means less work for them.

How about some of the link blasting services or software like AMR, etc?

I'd like to second this - I notice you don't have a link to your site in your signature on WF, for example. You have over 200 posts - that's over 200 backlinks you're missing out on

Thank you, hadn't even thought of that.

In my opinion you need to focus on getting high quality backlinks. Yes you can do it with low PR, but it will take more backlinks. Either way, get lots of links with your keywords in the anchor text. Stick with this and you should start getting some good results. It sounds too simple to work when you put it like this, but it does.

Another tip: use anchor text in your signature. Right now you have anchor text "http://www.mostlymutts.com" but it points to "bestfoodgiftsonline.com". I suggest anchor text "Best Food Gifts" or something relevant like that.

Fiverr is your friend. 5 bucks for tasks that would take you hours to do yourself. They have all types of things you can get from backlinks, to videos made, to Press releases. to distributing your articles or videos, etc.

Video marketing is a cheap and easy way to build a list. Have some one create a video for you on fiverr and then create a you tube account and upload your vid and then optimize it with on page video seo. You can easily get ranked in you tube AND google for the video if you pick the right keywords :-) Which means double the traffic.

Go for article marketing...building links and generating free traffic at the same time.

Have you tried submitting to directories for backlinks?
