Google Sitemap Question

My site shows (SEO Quake) as having 300+ pages indexed at Google, but by Google Sitemaps plug-in (Wordpress) only shows 25 urls in "the web index." Given that my site seems to be indexed fairly completely by Google, should I be concerned that the sitemap plugin only seems to be collecting a fraction of my total urls?

Thanks.

Ken

    Hi KenTheriot,

I don't know how it all works, so I cant answer your question for you, however I have a similar issue when checking my back links. When I go to various link checkers it tells me that I Google detects that I have either 0 or a very limited number of back links, when I actually have quite a few more.

Assuming you use the plugin made by Arne Brachold, look at the settings and what you've excluded from the sitemap. Tags are excluded by default.

You should only place articles in your sitemap. The main reason is you want search engine spiders to be focusing on content pages instead of tag pages or comments etc.

No worries mate .. also try to look in your sitemap settings .. I don't think you have selected all of the options to display all of your pages in the sitemap.

I'm using the wordpress plugin as well... but you have to wait for google to index your urls slowly... i got like 6k urls and at first google only index 980... after day by day.. it went up to 6k now =)
