Hey Warriors,

Do you think that Profile links still work for improvement in SERP? even after PANDA?

I feel that PROFILE links may not carry good value (I mean Angela Type links) after this Panda, and I think Contextual linking like article submissions and blogging may carry more value,

what do you guys think?
#links #profile #work

What I've understood about Panda is that it cleans the spammy website on the Internet giving less to no value at all to them so that you get the quality results as possible. Of course if you have links on these spammy sites it will be less or no significant at all to the benefits of your website.

Now, since you are talking about Profile links like Angela and Paul. Personally, as long as those websites are not considered as low content or spammy sites then the value of the links from them might be just as significant as before.

Angela and Pauls packets though are getting spammy. Have you tried the Paulie Ciera and Joe Finns?

Well I don't they've been quite as effective for some time now.

They still carry value, however I basically never link to my money site with these links and often use these low quality links to link to tier 1 backlinks to give them more link juice.

Safer and has worked wonders for me and clients sites recently.

But, I recently noticed that, even if I ping the profile links to about 130+ ping sites, the profile links are not getting updated, most of the profiles are PR3 and more specially from various forums sites, I wonder, Look like Google never care those sites (which I had got links) at all,

Try adding some unique spin content to your profile links, they help to improve the index rate, and I have tried that many times...

You don't need your links to get indexed to count towards rankings.

It is "better" but if the bots have at least crawled the links it will count.

Try Linklicious.me - 100% crawl rate for every link you give them.

          Updates on Experiment:
30.06.2011 - 5 DOFOLLOW, NO ROBOT Profile links created on PR6+ sites and pinged using BMD to around 80+ ping sites.

01.07.2011 - Nothing was indexed by Google, Pinged again.

Here's the secret: When you get the profile links that originate from domains that have a PR of 5 or higher, and those profiles do not require you to be logged in to view them, those links will be more powerful. They will also be indexed quickly when they originate from domains with a high PR because Google is constantly crawling such sites, whereas a domain that has a PR of 1 might only get crawled once per month.

Yes, <A HREF....>, [url...] codes can be used correctly to get these kind of links, I don't think that there are possibilities to go for wrong in this method, however, I wonder how it would lead to improve PR? Are you sure? Have you tested it?

Profile pages can be hidden behind database driven technology and dynamic page content. Search engines crawlers can not go deep inside these database intricacies and simply does not index some website's profiles.

As Jack Chase mentioned, I have also seen websites with something around 180 backlinks with PR3 and most of them are usually profile backlinks and or blog commenting with anonymous names (non targeted keywords)

Profile links still appear to work for long tail terms - even though lots of people say they shouldn't.

I have used them successfully recently, and there are lots of sites I have seen ranking at #1 with nothing but profile links. These are for long tail relatively uncompetitive terms though.

Profile links works great but only if you utilize them properly. Building 1000 profile backlink may not be enough but if each profile also get 1000 backlink then it will give your website lots of value. Whenever i am creating any profile backlink , i provide thousands of backlink to that profile too .. It work like very big link wheel and yeah it works really great!

Yes profile links still work but they have to be done differently nowadays.

For each link, we create a unique name, unique username, spun bio , and the link is embedded inside a bio which is somewhat relevant to the anchor text.

Lots of Panda discussions going on but there is no need to panic.Backlinks are still the most important factor in SEO.The panda update looks for the popularity of the site and the content and not only the content means if your content is popular then only it will think that your site is valuable and would give you the rankings. The popularity of the site has become the first priority after the panda update and this means links from profile links still holds value as it gives you a backlink and a chance to increase your popularity....ha..in this case forget about the pagerank.

Okay mates, I am going to do an experiment now.

Currently I have a keyword on # 9 with search results 9,780,000 results. - I am going to work for this, with different usernames, bio settings and etc,

    1. Create 5 Profiles on PR6+ sites (Kind of Angela Links) - NO ROBOT.txt block, DOFOLLOW links with anchor text

    2. Ping the profiles on 80+ ping sites using a software

Will keep you updated on whether those 5 profiles are indexed by Google and whether my rank moved up.

Let's see Track on the post for updates.

Yes they still work, but as many of you have noticed its typically hard to get indexed. That's usually because profiles have little to no content and/or no unique content. The key is trying to fill up the profile with as much as content as possible.

Also another problem with profiles is that sometimes they are blocked by htaccess files and robots.txt. Which means that the bots never see them to begin with as they are blocked.

You got the point, but I never used xrummer, I heard that if you create 5000 profiles, only around 150-200 are live and useful links, wonder out of those 150-200 how many are not robot.txt blocked and how many are dofollow?

Posted those URL on my blogger blog - That usually get fast index by Google as soon as I create new blog post, It indexed these URLS too,

      After about 5 hours,
My 4 profile links are indexed by Google out of 5. It is a great success, my efforts made Google to check out my profile links now (Within 24 hours of creation of those profile links)

Hopefully, let me track change in the SERP for that keyword, Still I can see it on the same position (9th place, out of About 9,630,000 results). Let's see,

On 03 July 2011, again I had got 4 links from PR6+ domains (no robot, dofollow) - Did the same, submit to ping sites, tweet those, link them in my other posts on regular blogger blog.

04 July 2011 - All those 4 links are indexed by Google and one great thing, I had moved to # 2 from # 8.

Summary of My EXPERIMENT: Do Profile Links still work?
Yes, They do still work as usual.

So, Let me summarize on what I have done to bring the site from # 9 to # 2 (Around 9,380,000 competing pages):
    1. Only 9 successful profiles with different names, dofollow, the profiles are not blocked in robot.txt
    2. Make them to index by Google.
    3. Here you go, I had got it, now sitting on # 2 for last 8 hours, hope I will be there
Note: Already I have some strong contextual backlinks for the site but the site was stuck in #9-#10 for more than a month.

Amenda a month is nothing . Many times links have to age before you see the full effect. Since you are getting contextual backlinks I don't know if you can conclude that your profile links are the reason for your rise. Plus experiments run on WF tend only to be useful if people can see the sites and URLs. Now of course you don't want to expose your money sites but thats why people do test pages and use test keywords when doing an experiment for WF.

Finally its true for profile links to both work and not work. Depends on niche and competition. So with the data seen here there really is no way anyone can make a blanket statement and say they work or even do not work. It can be entirely based on the niche and competition.

It depends on keywords, if your keywords are long tail keywords, you can see it boost your site. And you may combine some methods as blog comment and social bookmarking. You need to remember, you have a lot of competitors and you need to fighting with them on this links battle .

Okay, you have links, you are getting indexed. Where's the traffic coming from for your site?

Show me where these links generate traffic for you and returning readers for you. What's the value of them?

Do you have time to promote your site on 10,000 forums? 2,000 social bookmarking sites, and 3,000 other miscellaneous sites?

I know I don't and regardless of the automated tools etc that exist for doing this, you still have to question and wonder about the type of traffic you're generating from these sites.

Maybe it does give you a boost in ranking, maybe it doesn't. I've never been convinced of it and have tried it with many sites.
