Hi Warriors,

I realise most marketers look to SEO as their main source of traffic. Up till now, I believe SEO brings the most consistent, targeted form of traffic when you target your keywords right.

However, recently, many more others are anticipating the rise of social media, especially facebook that can be a real threat to Google.

Many WSOs have also jumped onto the bandwagon and tried selling facebook and other non-SEO types of traffic as the next big thing.

What do you think will happen to SEO as we know of now, in the future ? Will it become irrelevant one day due to the rise of social media or will SEO continue to be survivor, as it always has been.

Your thoughts please.

I certainly don't think SEO will be ruled out any time soon. I will say however from the experience I have had with PPC (and only within Facebook), that some of the best traffic is the purchased kind.

It is up to us as marketers to do our due diligence and research what method suits our timeframes, budgets, knowledge base etc.

Peace and Prosperity YeoSP, and welcome to the Warrior Forum

I said this in a similar post and it bears repeating:

Maybe the way we SEO today will be dead and gone but there will be new techniques and ideas.

Social is just coming on the scene as a SEO factor that is new and something we never thought about not to long ago.

Even if a new search engine takes over from Google they will have a algorithm and SEOs will figure it out no matter how they rank sites. SEO will change to meet that criteria.

There will always be a big search engine with market share and there will always be SEOs figuring it out.
