I think that depends on how competitive your niche is. If you're trying to rank for something highly competitive, then you will need to do a lot more than just article marketing.

If on the other hand, you found a niche with little or no competition, then you can get away with almost no marketing provided you have good content.

If you're unsure, then just start with article marketing and see where it takes you.

Your article marketing is good but not enough to improve rankings in search engine and must not rely on it try to use different link building techniques to support your targeted keyword phrases.

No it is not. Article marketing is a strategy that used to work solely about 3 or 4 years ago, but now you need a much more diverse backlink portfolio in order to rank well for worthwhile keywords.

Specifically you should try and diverse your backlinking efforts and not only focus on "one" type of backlinks.

This is completely wrong.

What you're describing is "article directory marketing", not "article marketing".

There are people in this forum doing article marketing, getting high quality articles in front of well targeted traffic, without doing any SEO at all, without any of their sites ranking among the first few thousand listings on Google, in very highly competitive markets, and earning six figures per month from it.

However much people selling backlinking and SEO services might like others to imagine so, neither is necessarily an intrinsic part of article marketing at all.

I think you can write a pre-sell article, build backlinks to the article and it'll rank high in Google. It'll bring good targeted traffic to your clickbank sites.

Right.

It works for me, anyway.

(As long as you publish all the articles and have them indexed on your own sites first, obviously!).

And if the article is written for syndication, you can get other people putting it in front of traffic that they've targeted (because publishers are always looking for content), and that way you get some context-relevant backlinks from their sites, too. So if the writing quality's good enough for others to want to share the content, you can get some high-quality, relevant backlinks built for you.

There are actually many of us, here, making a living this way. It's a way of using your articles to build up a genuine, asset-based business with gradually increasing residual income from work already done, rather than the typically rather unsuccessful rinse-and-repeat article-directory systems which can bring only non-context-relevant, no-PR backlinks.

You only get good backlink from article sites but you will get traffic when your content is good enough to impress reader, don't think one or two articles are enough to rank even low competitive keywords you need to right more, so why not try other link building techniques along with article writing.. Forums and Blog submission is also good and helps in improving rank of keywords.

No surprise - Alexa is right.

For the longest time, I was only submitting my articles to 3-5 article directories and getting little in return. Then, I read Alexa's great advice and am in the process of making those changes. (Well, I will as soon as my summer outdoor activities are done for the year ).

The best approach that worked for me was to submit using a submission service, but not just any old submission service. I used SubmitYourArticle.com which sends your articles to groups as well as article sites. After 3 months, I began to see a significant improvement in my traffic and sales... far better than I was getting from my 3-6 directories approach.

Also, Article Submitter | Article Submission Service | Submit Your Article Now includes a blog that provides a lot of great advice and tips on article marketing. If you have questions related to any of his posts, you can post them and he (Steve) will answer on the blog.

The only drawback is the monthly fee which he increased last year by $10, but over time you are sure to recoup your costs.

You need both, Article marketing is the key to getting backlinks and making money. use target key words know your audience and keep your Articles simple and write your articles base on your audience demans, But do your research.

Article marketing is more powerful than before. It's more powerful now than it's been at any time during the 3+ years I've been online. Only article directory marketing has been hammered.

Since Google's latest algorithm change (the "Panda update"), the professional article marketers have been explaining in countless threads here how we're the beneficiaries of it. Getting all those article directory copies of stuff off the front pages of Google's SERP's has made it a lot easier for us to rank the articles on our own sites, which are where we want the search-traffic coming.

Article directory marketing isn't effective at all when it comes to building links, because the links we can build that way have negligible value unless you have (literally) millions of them.

Article marketing, in contrast, can be supremely effective at getting high-linkjuice, powerful, relevant, targeted backlinks of enormous SEO value. It just doesn't include article directories, other than for their originally intended use as a syndication stepping-stone.

There's nothing new about article marketing at all. It was article directory marketing that was a third-class late-comer to the game, and has now been retired (hurt).

Depends on niche that you choose.

If you use article marketing without SEO purposes, you need to write hundreds or even thousands of articles for submission. By this way, you will get many sales with ClickBank/ Amazon.

I’ve gained a good number of backlinks and gotten a decent amount of traffic from article marketing. One of things that I focus on is trying to leave the reader wanting a little more information from you. At the end of the article direct them to your site to get more in depth information.

Alexa, after reading your posts about article marketing (along with a few other experienced posters) I'm about 99% convinced that I should drop what I'm doing now and jump headfirst into article marketing.

Having just recently started with IM (almost 2 months in now), what I'm currently doing is building backlinks to some low-competition pages and trying to rank well enough to get traffic/adsense revenue. I'm using TKA's Postrunner program, which lets me submit articles with 2 backlinks to context-relevant sites. It seems to be working alright, but I've written over 50 backlink articles and have yet to get a page ranked in the top 5 on google, or any significant traffic increase.

So I guess my question is, where do I start with this article marketing stuff?

Is it really as easy as submitting a posting a high quality article written for syndication on your website, and then putting it up on ezine and maybe goarticles/articlebase with a solid resource box?

What kind of websites profit most from this targeted traffic? Do I need to establish aspects of my website to make it effective?

What other IM practices are particularly important to use in conjunction with article marketing?

Does this route have the potential to be effective given my relatively inexperience with internet marketing? I'm a good writer and very knowledgeable about my primary niche, but still very new to IM.

That was how I started doing better, and was all I knew at the time, but of course there's more to it than this, as well. That's just one way of "achieving syndication", and it can be either fast-moving or slow-moving, depending on the niche and how many ezine-compilers and webmasters are looking for that sort of content. Paul's post here describes the other ways of getting started with "article marketing that really is article marketing rather than depending on traffic and backlinks from article directories".

You need a prominently incentivised opt-in, for sure, to build your lists.

What other content you have on a pre-selling site can vary quite a bit. I always have a product review (or more than one) and some bits of other content, but they vary quite a bit and I don't suppose they're necessarily all that important, really.

Sounds like you're in exactly the position I was in when I suddenly started doing much better after about three or four months of earning very little indeed and having been depending on article directories for their own traffic and their own backlinks, not quite appreciating at the time that I wasn't ever going to make a living that way because almost nobody does!

I've been reading the forum for some time now, but only just registered so this is my first post on here.

I would like to ask you one question about your articles. I've seen quite a few of your posts on here and understand what you mean with doing article marketing, NOT article directory marketing and that you publish articles for distribution.

My question is: When you write those articles and you, for example, target the keyword "how to build a chicken coop", do you write them with the so-called "useful, but incomplete" technique in mind or do you really give your readers everything they need?

Hey there pal, I'm Nigerian too. I had someone train me for article marketing and I'm still getting my articles approved as we speak. My coach told me the best way to monetize from your articles is to pay for backlinks. You can get up to 3000 backlinks for only $39 in some places. There also free ways you can generate traffic like pinging your articles and submitting them to search engines. I also use this service called twitter feed which is completely free and I've gotten a lot more views to my articles since then. It automatically tweets articles that you publish. You can even see some recent tweets in my warrior profile, it's a great service.

Obviously article marketing is the best way to build quality of backlinks and traffic also. I also have some PR1 articles upon Ezine which give my website dofollow backlinks as well as over 30 visitors daily/weekly.

It's always a good idea to try different things, just in case one doesn't work as well as you'd hope, but it's a good idea to master one thing first, so if you are doing article marketing ensure that you are submitting it to quality aritcle directories, like the likes of Ezinearticles and Goarticles

It depend on how much competitive your keywords are? As article links are of good quality with anchor text still you should get backlinks from a different sources for better ranking as G like link diversity.

Article marketing can the part of the strategy perhaps you can dominate the first page of Google for the Micro niche sites with that but for the higher competitive keywords you need to diversify your link building efforts.
