Pages vs Posts and silo structure

Hi,
I've seen different opinions on using pages or posts.

Which should I use?
I'm referring to timeless content.

I'm definately going to use a silo structure, but does it make a difference if I use posts or pages? For example, using posts, but making sure the urls follow a silo structure.

Are post categories and tags going to negatively affect a siloed url stucture?

Or are there reasons why I should not consider posts for my silo structure at all?

Pages and posts are equivalent in terms of SEO so really you should be considering how easy it'll be to navigate your site for the visitor.

I do fine with just pages but a lot of people seem to like to use pages for the primary keywords and then posts interlinking to the pages.

As long as your content and backlinks are solid :-)

let's assume all other seo stuff is done...keyword research, good content, meta tags etc...

Is there validity to siloing the url in posts if there are already categories and tags?...

      For example:
      site.com/silo1 keyword/subkeyword-contentpage1
      site.com/silo2 keyword/subkeyword-contentpage2

      vs.
      site.com/keyword-contentpage1

or should the categories and tags serve as the silos?

I don't mean to make it complicated...just want to get it right before I end up with a ton of content and can't go back.
