Guys which keywords you select for doing SEO??

Hey my question is which keywords you target to get google first page ranking?

I usually select keywords with low competition and high search volume....

Is that okay?

    I think it's okay. I use three rules when research keywords:
    1) high amount of relevance
    2) high amount of traffic,
    3) acceptable amount of competition

      There are more than one keyword selection criteria... Keyword selection depends on your campaign also.

      A few things that I consider while selecting keywords,
      - Relevance to my website
      - Competition (whether I would be able to beat the competitiveness)
      - Number of monthly searches
      - Profitability

      When I was new into Internet Marketing industry, I relied on Google Adwords tool... But now I have realised that I need to jump into real competition and thorough keyword research. Which is why I am now using 'Keyword Country'.

      I use semrush for kw and competitor research, because of nice long-tails and export to excel.
