Private Content on Search Engines

I am creating a site which will feature an extremely useful content section on a particular niche. I would like the user to enter his/her email address in order to see the content, however, since this content will be so extensive, it would also be very useful for SEO.
Is there a way that I could allow search engines to see the content, but not users (until they enter their email addresses), or is that black-hat?
