I did, a long time ago, but I'm told Google doesn't like "thin sites" anymore.

In any case, you are much better off sending them to a blog with an opt-in form. People who opt-in because they want to be on your list also convert into paying customers much better, too. (Versus the people who opt-in to your squeezepage so that they can get something free)

I've had that same question for a while. I've tried and Google didn't approve my ads, reason was the page was 'too promotional'.

But I've also heard of people doing it and building nice sized lists from PPC. So I'm curious as to how someone could do that.

AdWords is in most ways the best, but they are not the only PPC company.

I can't say I'm entirely surprised, with as much money as Google makes from insurance advertising through AdWords. When was it that you used that campaign?

Yeah good point, they must've used other networks. I have absolutely no experience with bing or yahoo ppc, or any other ppc network for that matter besides facebook. Something else to add to the 'learn' list lol

Well... actually... they really are. You learn that fast when you try any other PPC network. MSN now 30% of AdWords traffic? Rubbish. More like 5% and they're MUCH worse in terms of disapproving ads and keywords for no reason at all.

Here's the Adwords rules regarding squeeze pages. Basically, you have to make it clear why you are collecting such information and for what purpose.

As for Bing, the other major PPC network, the percentage of traffic compared to Google will vary depending on niche. Frank above is experiencing 5% but I find 20-30% is more typical of my clients who use both.
