Ok to post charts and graphs from gov site?

On An Adsense site, for reference, can I post charts and graphs from a .gov site, and then say SOURCE...blahblah.gov and then link to it?

or do I need permission?
or does that look like dupe content?. Its only a small part of my site

    That's not a dupe content penalty. News sites copy
    away.

    I might be mistaken on the following, and someone who
    knows will correct me.

    Unless there is some copyright by a third party, almost
    anything the US government publishes is public domain.
    It has to to be for various reasons. This includes printed,
    internet, and published material. Sort of like wikipedia.

      Government IS public domain. It's a great source for material to rewrite. Graphs and charts are okay. I use tables (nutritional info) and redo the info myself and rename the table

    I also got a similar question to this, let's say I have a website that will display the list passers of the board exam that was released from a .gov site, can i also copy this to my site or again will it be considered as duplicate content?

    I believe it's okay as long as you include the source of content. You can also edit the graph and add the source at the bottom of the chart. I've done this many times and I didn't experience any problem with claims and copyrights.
