I guess you missed out major link building method which many SEO guys claim that "rocking" method still. Yes, I am talking about blogging using web 2.0 with well written theme articles (300-1000 words articles). Keep blogging.... You will get good SERP

You can do tiered pyramid linking to avoid over optimization that can lead to penalties and getting banned.

Don't link your site by using the same keyword. use variety of them and also do do it too much.
use different type of links to be safe.

Only new strategy I am using is focusing on SUPER HQ content. Most of the content before was average, but the higher quality you make your content the better.
For articles I now make sure all of the wording is hovering around high school level, no more than 4% keyword density and proper grammar...so many are missing proper grammar.

You are doing good work to promote your site and build back links. Just try to publish good content and keep your site clean from spammy and dead links. Nowadays it matters to keep only alive links on your site.

Maybe you should get some links with more authority. Try guest blogging, get some links from pages that have PR and continue to get contextual links with highly diversed anchor text. Make sure that you link with simple url links also, not just with keywords.

In the end you can only test for yourself man, SEO is all about testing and trial and error.

you are talking about off page activities. i think u should also analyze your website for SEO friendliness.
after google penguin update many on page activities have been changed and some on page optimization activities are now considered as over on page optimization. the most sensitive part of on page SEO is keyword placement and its density. it should be placed only in proper positions like in title, meta description, h1, somewhere at the end of the content. Don't include meta keywords tag now because they are also causing over optimization and also don't anchor same keywords on every web page because it looks keyword stuffing to Google

2. No Broken Links or Images
3. Avoid Keyword Stuffing
4. Unique and Quality Content
5. Addition of Social Media
6. Image optimization
A: Rename image to keyword
B: Add alt tag
C: Add title tag
D: use one image in anchor (if possible)
7. XML sitemap.
8. Internal linking strategy.
try it on your website too. it can help u a lot

Content can be your most important backlink.
Create backlinks by guest blogging.
Link to other blogs
Plug your website in directories.

If you don't wanna worry too much about what you need to beat your SEO competitors and rank higher than them, then the key is in finding the right keywords that have a lot of searches and almost nobody is going after.

You have to use your brain to get to these kind of keywords.

Once you discover these kind of keywords that nobody goes after, you can just type a crappy 100 word "article" with your keyword and with a picture in it, and you will get ranked faster than you think.

SEO is just about doing better than your competition. Period.

I think the new Google updates are affecting old an new sites. The answer is their is not much more you can do. I am building up between 30 and 50 backlinks per day for my website and never seems to have any affect. I just think a lot of the updates just take a long time to register and far longer than it was before the Google updates.

mainly you have to get visitors from your promotions. and target content related promotions like blogs articles press release guest post and share all those thinks in social media. keep update your smo strategy.
