Google annouced its profits this week "Google Penguin Leads To 42% Increase In Paid Clicks"

Let all get involved to stop the madness! All this extra cost in clicks adds to the bottom line and gets passed to the customers in the end. Its fueling the recession.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

Lets start a campaign to get everyone to install adblock plus http://adblockplus.org/en/ or something similar!

Simple as that! nobody needs to change search engines or change the way they go about their every day life.

Natural Search results will be back on top and free enterprise will rise again.

Who is with me? Just tell everyone you know.
  1. send friends emails
  2. post it one facebook
  3. tweet it
  4. tell people trhey will get 7 years of bad luck LOL or some BS like that

Tell me your thoughts? Do you agree, disagree with this approach?
Or just post and say you did somthing!

Umm...what about those of us who build MFA sites and have benefited from this? I'd say let's lead a campaign to demolish AdBlock...

Just use Bing. Probably safer than installing software anyway.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

    1. You clearly don't grasp the most simple concepts of economics if you think Google having paid search is "fueling the recession".

    2. Just because you are mad the Penguin updates affected your sites doesn't mean the country should fly into revolution. Not happening, dude.

    3. Google has a right to make whatever updates or exchanges they want to. Everyone who makes their living off of Google's services has to either deal with this and adapt to changes, or simply quit.

A better move is to be smart and not rely on Google for your entire income stream. Either way, whining is not going to help.

      This.

Everyone that complains about Google needs to understand that they made the choice to revolve their business around Google. Google didn't make that choice for them. There are plenty of online-based business models that don't involve Google.

Yeah but whining about google is so much more fun. Pity nobody
ever whines about the idiots who run yahoo, bing, MS online,
      digg, etc.

Whining about google is cathartic for those who think google
owes them a living, and can't stand on their own two feet.
So, it must be google's fault.

Google cares about their bottom line, not yours. Or mine.

I don't think you are preaching to the right audience. Adsense is the main money maker for many people on WF.

You can never get enough exposure to make a difference, even as many warriors as there are, it's just a relative handful. We just got to roll with the punches or build lists big enough that big G don't matter to us.

I have bricks and mortar companies "Cool Hand Luke", so I think its best to ask me questions, rather than make presumptions.

The reason you all have adsense sites or rely on adwords is because they exists in the first place. Before this, you all used to have websites that sold affiliated products that ranked naturally in search results and your profits were higher. Now there is a middle man (Google) taking a cut of your profits.

That doesn't make any sense at all.

Google is the middle man taking a cut of your Adsense profits from the network that they own? That is theirs but you are requesting permission to use in return for a share of the profits?

What's the difference with affiliate products? You're choosing to advertise products you don't own in return for a share of the profits...

In both cases, we, the publishers, are the middle men.

I ran bricks and mortar stores for 15 years, and owned one for over 5. Take your own advice.

Let's see if I can fix that paragraph for you. Here's how it should read:

"The reason I have AdSense sites in the first place is that they're easy money and run for a very long time when built correctly. Before I got into IM, I ran bricks and mortar stores, as stated above. Now I don't have to worry about directly selling to the customers as I am the middle man bringing customers to Google that they can turn around and sell to advertisers."

I think that's a little more accurate. You're welcome, btw.

As a marketer who profits from advertising revenue and Google adsense, why would I want to undermine my own income stream???

In addition, despite the "increase in paid clicks", AdWords is still very cheap compared to national television or print campaigns.

Wouldn't it be better to encourage "Google clicks" to show that this cheaper form of advertising works?

If companies start dropping more expensive national print and TV campaigns, their advertiusing costs (and costs passed on to consumers) will actually go down.

By blocking adsense and forcing companies to pursue more expensive methods of advertising, you would actually be increasing the costs passed on to consumers.

    Lots of good response here,

JaRyCu - I appreciate your response

Dan Allard - I complain about the product that a majority of the western world use, the mass of people wont change service because they dont understand the impact the use of the Google service has. I happily use blekko.com all the time. This is not about my businesses. They run well and most have little use for internet traffic.

Cool Hand Luke - First Its a typeo (also many people that own brick and mortar companies have no idea thats what they are called, a bad oversight on your part), second I have met a few condescending pricks like you in my life its amazing what you can tell about someone just from your posts. I wish you a very unhappy life if this is the way you treat people. I will not be reading anymore comments you make.

onSubie - Actually I lived all over the world and its something that everyone understands, people power can invoke change but agreed not everything is universal.

Well, sometimes quoting the American constitution as if it applies to everyone and emphasizing it in ALL CAPS with an unnecessary number of EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!!! Can be off-putting to some...

....not to me, I just roll my eyes.
