Question about excessive links

Hello SEO Expert,

I have doubt on my mind about the excessive links.

Before 2 week my site ranking with the keyword of web design company is 2. My site running successfully and well maintain ranking. But after the ad FOOTER LINK in my client website suddenly my ranking goes down.

Before a footer link my website have a 5200 link, but after the footer link my website link is 30000.

Is there a issue regarding excessive link ????

Please give me suggest right direction on that.
