If you mean in terms of PPC you don't get penalised for duplicate content.

        Hi Amfire,

There is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty. Google just indexes one of the pages and leaves the duplicates out.

Of course, being indexed is not a factor at all in PPC.

Where did you come up with this assertion? Thin air?

        Go here:
        AdWords Help

and read the line that says:

"Feature unique content that can't be found on another site."

        and then read this part:

"Pages that replicate the look and feel of a parent site; your site should not mirror (be similar or nearly identical in appearance to) your parent company's or any other advertiser's site"

That is used to week out "cloned" affiliate pages such as those provided by various mlm's. Also used to prevent ads where pages are copies of product seller's page, etc.

          Hi Sean,

It's easy to construe the meaning of what others say when you take it out of context. So lets ad some context to your comments on my post.

When the OP asked about a duplicate content penalty for using multiple keywords in a dynamic landing page that has essentially the same content.

I replied: "There is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty."
And Dave Ward replied: "If you mean in terms of PPC you don't get penalised for duplicate content"

Then you pull out a line (taken out of context) in the Site Quality Guidelines:

"Feature unique content that can't be found on another site."

The guideline continues with (this is where context comes into play) the following statement:

"This guideline is particularly applicable to affiliates that use the following types of pages:
Bridge pages: Pages that act as an intermediary, whose sole purpose is to link or redirect traffic to the parent company
Mirror pages: Pages that replicate the look and feel of a parent site; your site should not mirror (be similar or nearly identical in appearance to) your parent company's or any other advertiser's site"

My point is that this part of the guidelines has no relevance to the OP's question. It was used "out of context" in an attempt to construe a different meaning, in my opinion.

We can let the readers of this thread read both of our opinions and they can decide for themselves what to take away from this conversation.

      Hi marcanthony,

Where this article indicates taking action, they are not referring to duplicate content per say:

"In the rare cases in which Google perceives that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we'll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved."

They are specifically referring to the 302 Page Hijack Exploit. This is not merely posting duplicate content but it is an attempt to steal traffic by using an exploit. The penalty is not for having duplicate content, but for using deceptive practices. That is an important distinction, Google does not penalize duplicate content they just filter it.
