No, this is not a good longterm strategy.

You may get a temporary boost in the short term, but Google is going to slap you down.

Why do all the hard work of building a site if you are just going to throw it all away?

Also remember that domain PR does not equal "page" PR.

Forum profiles and web2.0 profiles are a main part in my link building.

And all of my sites are in the top 5 for all keywords, and survived all updates

Don't just use profiles, use other links too, but you should have a nice mix, and it always shows with nice effect, and long term too, if u link building long term that is.

    • forum profiles <--- scrapebox etc.. as 2nd tier
    • web2.0 profiles <-- scrapebox etc.. as 2nd tier
    • web2.0 blog submissions <--- bookmarks as 2nd tiers
    • press release <----- scrapebox etc.. as 2nd tier
    • less then 50 social bookmarks ---- no 2nd tiers
    • niche blog commenting actual HIGH PR PAGES -- (NO SPAM!)
    • niche forum posting actual HIGH PR PAGES (NO SPAM!)
these are things i do when starting a new site, and they all make it just fine.

keeping anchor text at less then 15% for your main keyword
and up to 60% - bare URL , business name, click here etc...

should be in top 10 in no time.

If google follows all your links an they are just profile links...may look a bit spammy dont you think? Just get a variety of links, write some articles, press releases, blog comments, forum posts, profile links, google places, yellowpages, etc.

I think yes, it helps you but its not all the job you should do to rank your site higher. Its only a simple and small thing you should do to improve your ranking. Take benefit from social networking sites, forum posting, social bookmarking and other ways you know to reach your goal.

Do Follow Profile links are GOOD if you are participating in the forums and not just signing up, leaving your links, and gone. You must also interact to the forums you are signed up so that your profile will not get banned

Profile links won't help you in promoting the websites. Try to use all the link building methods to promote your keyword. Follow article posting, blog, profile, social bookmarking, social network sharing and forum posting all these are effective methods.

Some good tips here, some not so.
Take it all with a grain of salt and use your own judgement.

Do you want Google rankings or traffic? With a quick glance and just guessing your keywords you will want to hunt down your customers and get your site out where they hang at, not waiting for Google.

I would suggest creating videos of your "hacks" in work.
Start yourself a youtube channel and then go hang out in gaming forums, etc..
If your hacks are good, people that like such things will then link to them and perhaps one may even go viral.

This is the key question, I would say that forum posting is much more valuable for building a reputation, brand and driving traffic. If you want to link for the purpose of strengthening your SERP rankings then spend your time on stronger opportunities.

Because forum sigs are basically a stamp their value decays very fast. Image your Google and you see the same link surrounded by the same text many times on the same site. You're going to ignore that signal pretty soon aren't you?

Glad to see someone else that gets it.

So many people are hung up on creating as many profiles as possible, when they would be MUCH better off becoming a legitimate member in active, niche related forums. It's still one of the best ways to drive incredibly targeted traffic to a site or offer.

Who says they are not good? They are good if you can keep them alive. People build a huge number of profile links and forget about them. Its not good. but if you can keep them alive by posting occasionally and sharing there then They can be a great link.

Which is really, REALLY tough if you've created hundreds of profiles. Why not just become an active member of a handful of high traffic forums in your niche? You'll generate some pretty targeted traffic.
