What are natural backlinks?

That's my first thread here and I am a newbie, so forgive me if this is too obvious to most of you.

I am not totally sure what the natural backlinks are. Could you give me some examples of genuinely natural backlinks?

For example, if I link from my Wordpress blog to my static site will Google consider it natural backlinking? Or is this not enough?

Thanks.

Natural backlinks come when someone likes your content/website and they provide a link from their website to yours (there own free will). If you link from your wordpress blog to your main website your "Building a backlink" which is different..

Thanks. I understand that building backlinks does not count nearly as much as getting natural backlinks for search engines, right? Does it count at all or do they simply ignore it?

I don't see why not.. if they have good page rank. Me personally, I don't backlink.. I get good rankings from "keyword research" and great content.

I agree with you, but there's still legit reasons for cross linking multiple domains that you own.

I have multiple domains all in the same niche, I move my traffic back & forth because they're my sites/my traffic I can do whatever I like (within reason). If a person is on a Camping site, chances are they wouldn't mind seeing more relevant Camping sites, doesn't matter who owns the sites as long as the traffic finds them useful.

My point is, If it makes since (same niche) I could care less what Google thinks. I still rank pages across all my domains.

All the backlinks referred to in this post are natural backlinks.

"Natural" backlinks are - roughly - backlinks from context-relevant sites (not just "pages"!) which look as if they've arisen because webmasters/posters there wanted to draw your site to the attention of readers of the site on which they appear, without incentivization, reciprocation, or in an attempt to manipulate search engine algorithms. A backlink is a "vote for your site". And a "natural backlink" is an unpaid, unbought, unincentivized "vote" arising because of the quality and relevance of your site to the "voter".

    Right.

They don't always say clearly. And sometimes they change their mind.

They say they generally ignore "reciprocal backlinks" (site A links to site B and site B links back to site A).

At the moment, they penalize heavily for "mass automated/spammy/irrelevant backlinks". When you're lucky, they just ignore them. But you can actually "disavow" links, these days (that's to prevent suffering unfairly from competitors damaging your site's SEO by building spammy backlinks to it, which they'd otherwise be able to do): http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...vow-links.html

It's possible the moderators may move the thread to the SEO forum, where you should really have posted it: http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...cussion-forum/

It's also possible they may delete it. If it disappears, that was why!

Do you think a "real" comment linking back to your website is still relevant?
"Relavent" as far as backlink goes..

Oh yes ... I think so. However you look at it, really. It's been published and accepted because you had something relevant to say? And Google's algorithm might not look too closely at it anyway? It'll recognise that it's a relevant site, of course (from commonality of keywords/vocabulary, in the usual way - they explain this part fairly openly).

Blog commenting on relevant blogs is perfectly legitimate and pretty "natural" backlinking.

But bear in mind that the "linkjuice" you get is in inverse proportion to the number of backlinks on the page, so a comment among 2 or 3 others is worth overwhelmingly more than a comment among 100 others.

Lately i have had to rethink everything i know about seo. I recently started a new site and every post i make for long tail phrases ranks well.
        Here's the funny part,
Absolutely no backlinks have been built to this site.
All i do is write the post and not pay any attention to seo except for the usual things like title, tags and i also use platinum seo, other than that i have done nothing and am seeing 67% SE traffic in analytics, go figure:confused:

From my experience building my own blog network and providing services to clients, 'natural' backlinks are as follows

    1) Links that come from EDITED sources. Compare these to AUTO-APPROVE sources that publish you link the moment you input the code. Why is this important? This is the key difference between EARNING a link and BUILDING a link. Google is cracking down on LINK BUILDING using automatic approval means. Why? There is no manual analysis and input-the system just approves you. There is no EDITOR to determine if the link adds to the QUALITY of the host site. EDITED sources are 'natural' link sources because, at the very least, there is an actual HUMAN playing traffic cop to the links being generated. I suspect GOOGLE will crack down hard on this as well. Who will survive? Editors that CARE about the experience of their site's readers.

    2) 'Natural' also depends on timing. If you spend $5 on Fiverr for a 10000000000000000 link package, the huge number of links appearing in a short period of time is very UNNATURAL to Google. This is exactly what Penguin is cracking down on.

MY SUGGESTION? Don't build backlinks. Focus on LISTENING to your audience first and becoming FAMILIAR with their NEEDS. Produce quality RESPONSIVE content and ENGAGE your site's visitors. Make adjustments. Form a community.

    Is it tedious? Absolutely.
Will you see a lot of results quickly? Absolutely Not.

    Is it worth it? YES.

I never used any tricks, nothing unnatural, and I got penalized too. Not as bad as many others, but still. But I agree that giving damn about Google is not the best way to go about your business. It can drive you crazy. I too believe in good content in the first place and always did. That feels most natural to me as a way to provide what my visitors really want.

Excellent suggestion! And, this is more easily done on Facebook where fans are more eager to share (viral) content to their own timeline.

The hardest, yet the best and long lasting way to rank! I completely agree with you. When I publish something I try to focus on bounce rate so I know if they like the content or not, so if the bounce rate is high then chances are they will never share the content.

Natural backlink is that you get when a webmaster likes the content on your site links to it voluntarily.

Natural back link is a link to your site that you did not build yourself. It’s when a website or blog owner loves the content on your site so much they decide to link to it so their readers can benefit from it as well. Natural back link can created only through content and networking.

Natural links means your links are built by others because of its quality, your site quality, you don't have to build links yourself.

For example,if you post one article on article directory, if it is quality article it would be liked by others, they may want to post this article to their sites, this way you are building natural links.

The whole idea of natural/unnatural links is completely irrelevant. SEO is a business. Those PR6 domains going for $x,xxx are bought up to rank for highly competitive keywords.

Search for any competitive keyword and look up the backlinks. They have all been bought for. Oh and a search algo cannot tell if a person created a link out of “goodwill” or was paid for.

It’s similar to Vitamin C, whether you get it from an Orange or a pill- your body does not care. My advice to the op is to treat SEO like a business and like any business, it has to be budgeted for.

You create good content in form of text/video and share it with your friends and others if they like it and give a backlink back to your that web page that is what called Natural backlink.
