    Hi seach4s,

Google does not officially or unofficially disclose this information, but research has shown the following to be true:
    • You must be the top listing for the term
    • Number of searches above Google's threshold
    • Your domain name must be part of the term used to search
    • Backlinks to website sections must be above a threshold
    • navigation labels must be anchor text not images or javascript
The threshold for searches used to be high, like 10,000+ and number of pages on your site used to have a high threshold. Now we see that there are sites with less than 200 pages and a few hundred searches a month that have earned sitelinks.

I think submitting an XML Sitemap to Google's Webmaster Tools doesn't hurt.

It's very hard to pin down the exact criteria they use, as every time you think you have a good grip on the parameters they use you'll find something that changes your mind

I think there is also a huge market component involved.. but again very hard to pin down..

for example, searching Apple computers shows site links, but search for Apple Ipod, it does not, Apple monitors, nope

Dell Computers, yes, Dell Monitors, nope, Dell Laptops, Nope, etc..

      It's a moving target..

I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it though as it's not likely to happen for most folks

        Hi Dave,

I believe the reason those search terms you mentioned do not work, is because they do not return the home page as the top listing. If a subpage outranks the home page then you will not see site links. They only appear on terms where the home page is the top result.

              1. Make sure to interlink your top tabs or main themes.

              Topic A | Topic B | Topic C | Topic D | Topic E
              Sub A | Sub B | Sub C | Sub D | Sub E

All your sub pages should point a link to the top domain link, and to another top domain link.
              For example
Sub A should send a interlink to Topic A...and to Topic B, and maybe to Topic C also.

              2. Make sure to have interlinking to your top domains from the main homepage.
You can include it in the text or you can put the links within the footer. (This way it will appear on every page)

              3. Your site needs to be an authority site, and not just ranking #1 for a keyword(s).

              4. If you have a blog, then make sure you have interlinking with all of your posts.

              5. Google may require your domain to be at least 1yr old.

Make sure to check out your google webmaster tools. Google may show you sitelinks there, but not even show it in the searches
