sales with little traffic, but screwed up keywords for years

I have been 'messing around' with IM for a few years. I have 2 main sites that have actually made me $, so I'm sticking with them right now. BUT I think I royally screwed up from the start, and I dont know if I can fix it.

#1: I am not ranking AT ALL in any search engine that I can find. SO - how am I making sales? They cant be all from ezine?? (I realize that's the #1 mistake... no clue on tracking) (( i think they dont rank because they are .info and .net ??)

#2: I have written articles, ran solo ads, etc. for multiple keywords, all relating to my website, but again - no tracking.

I've used so many different keywords, and have many 'wheels' and video articles, etc. backlinks, etc. But I never kept track of what I've done.

#3: I get only 30-50 visitors a day, but am making at least $100 a month (I gave up for a few months, so those sales are from doing absolutely nothing). So I HAVE to be doing something right!

Because my traffic is almost nil, and I'm making sales, obviously my traffic is VERY targeted - but should I start over with keywords? Would it hurt my sites in any way? I honestly dont know if they CAN be hurt traffic wise)

I had a list of about 20 people and made a sale from it, but dropped the list... so I am remaking my lists now.

I am now at a complete loss. I sit down and have NO idea what to do.
I dont want to change anything except to put an optin box somewhere - the sites obviously convert well.

If this is in the wrong spot, sorry. I didn't know where else to put it.

    As I see, you are a newbie in this field. My suggestion is that you start off spending a lot of time here and learn the ins and outs of this stuff. And please start trying to get top rankings and use 7search with CPAs after getting a CPA coach.

      As I see, you need to READ before you ANSWER! :confused: i've been in and out of this forum since 2006..... but thank you for your input. I would suggest that YOU spend alot of time here.... and learn what you are talking about.

    If you think that your backlinks are a problem then you can get rid of those backlinks if you know about google's disavow-links that you can find in webmaster tool...

    I recommend you not take all of the advice you get here. A lot of it is garbage.

    Do you have any sort of tracking? Like Google Analytics at the least? Then you should at least know where your traffic is coming from.

      @ spa3212 -- I never heard of that tool - I will try that. Thank you!

      @ drewfioravanti -- i knew i'd get an answer like the first one. I've been around for a while. :/ I do have tracking, and know a few of the keywords, but alot of the links shouldn't be bringing traffic to me - maybe I'll try to get rid of those?

    Why do you want to get rid of the traffic you have if it is profitable? Seems to me like you would want more of that same traffic.

      I was thinking more along the lines of WHERE (for what keywords) they are coming from. I dont worry about getting on Google, as alot of the traffic I do get comes from Bing and Yahoo. I do know that alot of the sites sending me traffic are some kind of japanese or chinese sites ( they use symbols for words), so those are the links that I would try to get rid of.

      But my main question ( i think I asked too many - sorry) would be - if I stat from 'scratch' now on these two sites, tracking, etc. would it help? or would I be wasting my time, since I haven't been tracking for a few years?
