Tricky SEO question ...

Hi guys,

A business partner and I have had a falling out. Long story short, I have a ton of blog content that Google has indexed on domain that my former partner owns. He removed the blog, and I have all the files (database, etc), but he is refusing to implement a redirect as he originally promised when we agreed to split up our partnership.

So Google has all the old pages / posts indexed. They are all dead links now.

Should I put up the content on my new domain now, or wait until Google de-indexes the original location first?

I'm worried that if I re-launch it now, Google may see it as a copy of the original, whereas if he implemented a 303, this wouldn't be an issue.

What a pain. Hoping someone can offer good advice.

    Hi,
    I would wait until Google de-indexes the content, just to be safe. While duplicate content won't hurt your site, so to speak, doing so on a larger scale could have a detrimental effect, so it's best to wait.

    Sometimes business partnerships do go wrong. And, that's exactly why it's always best to be a lone ranger.

    Wait until the content is de-indexed at the original location first before publishing the content again on a different domain.

    I wouldn't worry about waiting.

    If the old pages only exist in the SERPs, even If Google see's your new site has the same content, they'll have to compare the first site which they'll see doesn't exist anymore.

    How much content (in terms of pages) would potentially be duplicated if you decided not to wait? Also, would you be publishing this content all at once or staggering it over time?

    Spinning parts of content (manually) or using WordAI to spin initially before making edits manually could also be an option for a fresh start.

    I don't think waiting would be good. You can put up the content on your new site. And as yukon
    saidGooglewon't be able to compare that content with the previous one. You can go ahead with the new domain.

    Just put up the site already. This won't cause any problems as the old site will eventually be deindexed anyway.
