Give up now, never use spun content on your tier 1.

You'll get much better results creating unique content on your tier 1.

Doesn't have to be great content, but it's much better then spun content.

I use dragon naturally speaking for creating quick unique content, can create a good article of 500 words in about 10-15 minutes.

    Regards,

    Lee

Forget spun or unique content. Just write up one 500 word article and use it across all your Web 2.0s. Syndicated Content is legit and it works like magic...

So you create one piece of content and then upload the exact same one everywhere?

That is something i've never actually tested...

Yes, that's pretty much it. Sometimes I chop the paragraphs up and change headlines but that's about it. The content is always the same.

I 'd like to see the test of how well you do in a competitive serp when your competitor sees all the those links to your site from the exact same content. Or are we just in a pretend world where no competitor looks when they get outranked?

No chance of testing it in a competitive market, for obvious reasons. but i don't mind testing it out on a few low competitive keywords.

I wouldn't test it on my money sites. Just maybe a few throw away domains i have spare.

            Regards,

Understood. I was more commenting on the whole strategy to begin with.

I don't believe in spun content, but there are many who vouch by it.

I use spun content on my money site, because my top 2 competitors have been ranking for YEARS with spun content on their sites.

However, I don't use this content on any of my main pages. And if you click in through those main pages, chances of you clicking on the spun content are low. They only target super low search keywords that I wouldn't get traffic for either way.

Also, when I spin, I spin deep. 90% or higher. And I edit each article before posting. Even if I tried to write a unique article for all these keywords, they would all sound the same, because they are all local towns targeting the same service.

The niches I target, are niches I've been focused on for years. So I see how rankings change year after year, and so far I haven't seen any sites lose rank who are using spun content OR outright duplicate content. The reality is, the sites using spun or duplicate content, are all the sites ranking the highest. They are bigger sites, more links, more authority, and grab up most of the top positions. Has been like this for years and google doesn't seem to care.

Like I said, all my main pages/keywords get unique/quality content, all the low search keywords get spun content. I also have Dragon Naturally Speaking, and will proofread all my spun articles before posting. If anything reads weird, I highlight xxx sentence and speak into my mic to fix it. It makes the process go really quick, and the end product although not excellent, still winds up looking good. Also, if I see some of these long tail pages picking up decent traffic, I will usually go in once more and make edits to them, which is more than what my competitors ever do.

Spintax definitely ranks. I know several marketers who swear by it.

But I refuse to use it on the grounds that if I want visitors to buy from me the very least I can do is create meaningful content.

This is a personal choice and I never outsource my writing or spin it.

I use spun content all the time. I never used the same content but I think it works too and right now Google doesn't have a penalty for that as far as I know. However if you spin I heard from few reputable SEOers to spin deep up to 150% or don't spin at all. While I think that's extreme spinning up to 50% works for me and I never had problems.

    FINAL THOUGHT
If you try to rank your tier 1 articles and expect people to read that article then don't spin it - just write original articles, if it's just for backlinks then spin it, just to be safe

    Hope that helps
