So I run an online community in my niche (see signature)

I have a £100 budget a month, which is not a lot and am interested in an Adwords campaign. My objective is to recruit new users to the community.

What return on investment in terms of amount of new users per month do you think I'd see? Do you think there is a better way of achieving my objective with my budget with other online types of advertising? Banners, guest posts, etc?

Thanks!

It depends what niche your in. If you're lucky and it's not a very competitive niche, then you might get a fair few visitors, but converting this traffic into regular users is a totally new ball game.

What type of community is it? Like a forum? A good source of targeted traffic is to just find relevant forums in your niche and give value to others. If you're seen as an "expert" in the field, your site will naturally get users. I'm not talking about robot advice and information that they can find anywhere on the internet <--- that is where the majority of "gurus" on this forum trying to sell an ebook get it wrong.

See my niche in my sig What do you think? I will make landing pages a big header with what they get, with a signup form on the left hand side of thge page and all the benefits on the right.

It's a social network, I can PM you it if you want. I'm interested in paying for advertising as I don't have enough time to do it myself, full time student, focusing on product development right now.

      Thanks for your reply

That's quite a competitive niche and you might find the that the best or most relevant keywords cost £3-£4 which means a budget of £100 only gets you 25-30 visitors.

In the greater scheme of things, £100 really isn't much to play around with per month, compared to the proper businesses that will be competing for the same traffic. If you really do believe in your website, and think it offers a USP that isn't matched by other sites in the niche, you might find that "word of mouth" is your most cost effective method of marketing. Maybe look at facebook ads which are generally cheaper than adwords, and then make your website as open to sharing as possible. To stand out from other sites that are investing more, you need to be creative with your budget.
