Hi,

Is it OK to re-use content that has not been indexed by Google or de-indexed by Google?

Thanks,
Seamy

Well if it's online it's only a matter of time before it gets indexed, so you'll have a dupe content problem if you re-use it too much. However, if it's a post that was de-indexed for some reason, you might wanna find out what that reason is (unless you know already) before posting it on your own site.

In both situations, I would avoid using these content.

If content is not indexed yet, it could be anytime... which later on create duplicacy problem.

If content is de-indexed, there could be more chances that content was useless and doesn't offer any value. So nobody wants to use that kind of content.

First priority not to use the already index content. But you can use the that by giving a reference link to the actual page from where you copied that content.

I've done it before with no issue.

I copied 50 pages of 'banned content' to a BlogSpot which now gets 300 visitors/daily. It took very little time to do it and was well worth it.

    Yes it is fine.

Only the domain the content is on would have been de-indexed, the content as far as I know is ok to be re-used, and it will be indexed again once you put it on a new domain.

If the content isn't indexed by google then it would be fine and you can reuse it, else i would rather stay away from using the de-indexed one.

I would say the opposite of this.

If the content is yet to be indexed, there's a fair chance that it will be indexed in the future and so you may run in to duplicate content issues. If the page has been de-indexed, then that content should not be considered as duplicate content if you were to put it on your site.

If you're worried about it and have extra time you can rewrite it a bit.

But it doesn't matter. When Google - in their infinite wisdom - chose to eliminate your domain from their index, the content stopped existing too. Putting it up somewhere else is an obvious way to move on quickly from your mistake and still get a return on your efforts.

Try testing it with one article, then link a long tail keyword to it, if it ranks then no issue with the rest, you'll know within a few weeks since panda continually refreshes now...

Hey, I found this post when doing a search for a similar topic.

I just bought a .com domain from Godaddy, thinking it was new, and come to find out it was around a couple of years ago (did an archive.org check).

It's got like 10 backlinks pointing at it, doesn't even seem like anything spammy, but when I do a site:MYNEWDOMAIN.com, nothing shows up. Although it doesn't show up as banned in any of the adsense checking tools I've found online.

Does this mean that it's been de-indexed?

Silly question actually, but I guess what I really want to know is...is it worth it to build a site out on it, add google analytics and webmaster tools, and then hope it's okay? Or, submit a request for resubmission due to the fact that I'm the new owner?

Also, I might do a little "Grey-Hat stuff" (lol, who doesn't), so maybe it's best to just start from a stealthy new domain.

Anyone have any experience with this, or wanna offer up some advice for me?

    Thanks,

Was the domain parked during those years?

    Hey Bisturi,

It doesn't seem like it was, or that would show up, most of the time, in the waybackmachine.

Look like it's a dropped domain and I doubt it would be a good domain (considering the fact it has 10K+ backlinks and which are not spammy)

However, there is a possibility and you can test the domain. Search any coupon and resister the domain. Install wordpress and throw some backlinks to it. If it gets indexed, great for you :-)

If those are not indexed now, there should not be any issue.

He said 10 backlinks, not 10,000 backlinks.
