Is anchortext from inbound links really that important?

I hear alot about incoming links being a major ranking factor for search engines like Google. In your experience is this really one of the best ways to rank high in the major search engines?

      Well, major search engines, plural, really does not exist.

      Anchor text is important. It has nothing to do with varying
      anchor text, or using click here, or other such rot. Just say it
      like it is. Plain, simple, short, sweet, no hyperbole, no elevating.

      It's not the end all to end all, but a first level signal for sure.

    It is important, but what's more important is how you do it.

    SEO changed dramatically when Google started penalizing for anchor text percentage.

    Since most SEO companies don't plan ahead, they were hit.

    Those who do things right and take precautions stayed ahead.

    You should always diversify your anchor text and include keywords as a low percent. This should be common knowledge, but of course it only became mainstream when Google began penalizing.

    Yes it is, therefore you should be conscious about it because after Google Penguin update it got worth and importance. I will advice you that you should not use your targeted keyword in every inboud backlink. You should use variations of keywords or anchor texts and that thing will help you in SEO.

    Yes, it is one of the important onpage factor, but do add much anchor text in single two or three is enough according to google update.
