Infographics for Links?

Hi,

Got some questions related to Infographics. So, have you got any Infographics designed recently? Did you get any worthy links from promoting and distributing it?

Also, how much did it cost you? I'm actually looking for a talented Info-graphics designer, so recommendations would also help.

Thanks,
Ankit

I made an infographic recently (mainly for getting links).

    This is what I did:

    1) Outsourced an infographic from a friend (It was around $100, usually he asks $200 for that - which is common price for HQ infographic)
    2) Added it to 10 infographic sites (including visual.ly)
    3) Outreached ~30 webmaster who run a blog/webmagazine in the same niche
    4) ... waited
    5) Few months later I got approx. 50-60 links from it and still counting.. Some of them were from highly authoritative sites.

Uhm, what else? My site got lot of likes/shares/tweets and subscribers.. Oh, I got some huge traffic from it as well.

    I guess it was my best $100 ever spent : - )

Tip: When you create an infographic, try to put a lot of effort in it. Make it extremely interesting and find the best designer for it.

Good to know. I was going to make an infographic about some software I teach. Mostly just keyboard shortcuts and maybe even some very basic navigation graphics. I plan on outsourcing it to Fiverr to see how we'll it'll do. It won't be anything in depth but I want to find some alternative ways to get more traffic.

      *whistle* that's a good ROI!

I had an infographic made but didn't add it to the infographic sites...maybe that's why I only got a few links.

Nor did I hustle and contact webmasters like you did.

So...the infographic is just a marketing tool. You've still got to hustle!

        Yep, definitely.

The same goes with content. Even when you produce excellent/interesting/useful content you still have to outreach others. Otherwise they will just not see it and your infographic/content gets buried deep into web.

Outreaching is definitely the key for getting more exposure and links.. But you have to choose the right people.

I've had two infographic wins recently (both in terms of traffic and links). And I've gotten links for me and my clients from incredible PR7 news sites using them in the past.

It might literally be the best link building strategy on the planet.

For example, here's what I did with my on-page SEO infographic:

    1. Created an evergreen, high-value piece of content. There's no shortcut here: it does have to be good.

    2. Reach out to people that have written on that topic (in my case, people that were ranking for keywords like "on page SEO"). Don't ask for a link...just show them the infographic.

    3. Because it's great (see step #1), they're inclined to share it on social media...which gets eyeballs on it...when then generates links.

Like online only said, you need to hustle....and that's what makes an infographic marketing campaign work.

Once you have your completed infotoon or infographic, and you've listed it in in relevant infographic directories and conducted blogger outreach you can then convert it into a PDF and share it on document sharing sites such as Scribd, Slideshare to reach a new audience.

In addition to what everyone else has said in terms of submitting it to visual directories, an infographic is also a useful tool for guest posting. I contacted a few authoritative sites and they posted my infographic along with a post

I'd like to share my experience creating and designing infographics.

I hired two freelancers on oDesk - one to research and compile the data and another one for design. I went through the data myself and picked up the most interesting and relevant points.

Then the designer produced the final infographic after a couple of revisions. I published the infographic on my site and then submitted it to the infographic directories, social media and other sites in my niche.

After one high authority site in my niche published it a few dozens of others picked it up as well. I'm still getting reposts and backlinks after more than 6 months.

Since then I successfully created more than dozen of infographics and described my experience and gathered resources in Infographic Cheat Sheet.
