Need an SEO expert's advice

Hi I am in the process of creating a website that has a great domain name but it only 3 few years only. It's an exact match domain relating to my product.

I have another website that has a PR 2 and has more authority than this one and its been on for 7 years. The domain is long and Google basically threw it down a well bc its nowhere to be found anymore online. I know the reasons why though.

My question is:

Which site should I work to develop? The shorter exact match domain with much less authority or my older one?

    Can you not too both and whichever one is the least successful add it to you the better domain and get an even bigger boost.

    For the pr 2 site, what are the reasons why it was out of ranking? if its massive links then you may resort to disavowing the links of the site. This is very time consuming and you'll never know how the site would end up if you have done that. Disavow tool is like a double edge sword.

    If I were you I would throw my effort on the exact match domain (EMD) and make the site look great. Authority can be acquired over time you just need to build it up.

    Assuming that they have an equal number of registrar drops and total lack of spam in their backlink profiles, the clear winner is the older, more authoritative domain.

    If PR is out ranked because of Spam links or because of anything Google update then advice is to avoid this domain as it will be easier to rank the newer one with less domain age.

    Why not concentrate on developing both of your websites. Google still loves exact match domain if the website content is upto mark. And also it is easy to rank for your targeted product.

    Also don't just leave a website which you own for 7 years old, it is not advisable.

    You can try to work on both and see what exactly the results would be, but if you ask only one, obviously in this situation the older one would be good to monetize.

    Completely depends on why "Google threw it down the well". If it is because of bad links I wouldn't waste your time on it. If it is due to being dropped and a lack of content, then simply wait for Google to crawl it again with your new content up there and you should be good to go.
