    Content

You need to have good content on your site. People who use Google search want to find websites that answer their initial query. Therefore Google will rank sites that achieve this. Good content will reduce your bounce rate. Which Google will look at.

    Social Media

Google wants to see engagement on Social media for your site. Open a Twitter, Facebook, Pintrest, Google Plus, LinkedIn and use YouTube. Promote and engage with others via social media.

    Domain Name

Choose a domain name that is contains your keyword and use .com

    Keywords

Do keyword research and add multiple pages each for different keywords. Add content to your site on a regular basis and make sure the content is quality.

    Meta Data

You need to have the keyword in your page/post titles, your meta description (max 156 character) and you keyword tags (max 48).

    Backlinks

You need to get backlinks to your site. The best way to do this on a regular basis is to guest blog/post on other sites relevant to your niche.

There is a lot to SEO but these are some of the very basics. If you have quality content and relevant links from sites of good quality then you should be OK.

You need a lot of time and dedication when taking SEO into your own hands. It can literally become a full time job to SEO one website full time.

My biggest piece of advice to ad onto the last post is focus on creating content for your visitors and for real people rather than the search engines - This goes for your website content and your links

If you have no experience in SEO field. I suggest you to target keywords which have long tail phrase and low competition. These keywords can be ranked on the top spot with original content (no duplicate) and few backlinks only.

What I always say to other people who are trying to engage in SEO is that patience is a very important key to success. You should never quit no matter how much you lose, at first, if you think that what your doing has a direction. But be smart enough to know when to stop. Just focus on making content that has relevance and Google will be very welcoming to you.

If you want complete knowledge in one place, you should buy a guide on it. SEO is not a short topic. You won't find the secrets in the free guides.
