Quick question about Content Network

Google Content Network:

1)

For a certain product I always get a standard set of banners in the current 8 sizes.

Do i make an adgroup for each different banner size, or do i upload the banners into ONE adgroup? It looks like with uploading all to one adgroup (the adgroup for the product in question) the ads are "variations" where google picks the "best performing ad" to show more often.

But i want to show all banner-sizes for the ad.

2)

Can i actually direct-link in google content network? Say, from my network i get an URL like www.xcxuw.com&s=61252&c=123
(which is obviously an encoded affiliate URL leading to the vendor page in question)
Can i leave the display URL my own URL, but use the encoded URL as destination URL?

First, create a campaign which is content network only, disable the search networks. You should actually create two such campaigns. One where you target sites and another where you let Google select site from your keywords, although in general, I don't like this but is a good way to find out sites to target.

There are many ways you can set up your ad groups in your site targeted campaign. You could set it up, as you suggest, by banner size.

But I would suggest by theme, just like you do with keywords in a search campaign. The banners are not ad variations, they should all be the same ad (saying the same thing), just in different sizes.

So let's say you sell only red, blue and yellow widgets. Your campaign would be named something like "Widgets - Site Targeting". One group would be "Red Widgets", another "Blue Widgets" and the third "Yellow Widgets". You would of course target sites related to red widgets and only banners promoting your red widgets only, not blue or yellow. You may have other groups such as "June 2009 Yellow Widgets Special" and the like.

By the way, sites can specify which banner sizes to display. You'll likely find some sizes are more popular and that some sizes may not display often, if they do at all.

The same rules apply for banners and text ads as far as display/destination URL is concerned. If your destination URL is xyz.com/blahblah, your display URL's domain must be xyz.com.
