How to rank in Google maps?

I want to rank my google places listing for particular keywords in google maps. Can anybody suggest what are the SEO activities needed to carry out for the same? Currently my listing is in the 5th page of Google maps for a particular keyword. How do I bring that to 1st page? what are the important SEO activities for this? If anybody knows, please explain..

    You need to update the frequently. Google loves when things are being updated as it tells the system that the listing is live. Also try to upload lots of images, videos, and also try to get good reviews without cheating..if you cheat it can go against you.

    You need to get citations. Make sure that your information(address, phone number etc) are same across all your different citations. here's a tutorial by Mike Friedman on how to find places where you can get citations using scrapebox.
    Reviews can play a very important role so ask your clients to leave a genuine review for you on google places and other popular local directories.

    There is a ton of ranking factors over 100 make sure the listing is correctly optimized and filled out correctly and citations would be my best advice to you.

    you need some positive reviews on your listing then you can get top ranking on a particular keyword that your are targeting.
