Forum threads - retaining ranking, changing content

I have a forum with thousands of threads with useful content, think of it as a resource center but in thread form. Hypothetically, if I have to change some of the content of the thread, or even 100% of it, will that thread lose ranking in google? My fear is, after updating all these threads that need updating for one reason or another, that it will lose its ranking in google. Anyone have experience with this?

I use my forums in much the same manner as you, i.e., often updating the content. Google ranking? I have one thread that lists celebrity bloggers. The list is quite long and I update often.. Does Googe care? Let me know if you get feedback.

I've had mixed results with changing content, but normally very good results with adding content. Consider adding where you can and changing as little as is required?

    That's how I'd approach it.
